Default scarab 1 MPH

hey everyone im curious what mph can i expect from my boat i just got 85 scarab 1 with 265hp small block and a alpha 1 outdrive ? also ive been told that this boat will burn about a galion of gas per min at wide open throttle is this a accurate assumtion ? im new to the boat sene and i appreciate all the advice and help u give

Maybe low 50's and probably 1/2 gal per minute.

Pull the throttle back to 3000-3200 rpm if you want to save gas....it will use half what you do at wot.

According to Boating , Richard Tiel did test the 1985 Scarab 1 with 260HP Cobra 260, 14 x 21 1/2 pitch 3 blade SST, 1.41dr .



Here are the specs.
Fuel cap is 60 gal.Weight 3350. Test was done with 2 persons, 7/8 fuel, moderate gear onboard.
2000rpm=10.2mph,3.7gph,2.76mpg
2500rpm=27.7mph,5.5gph,5.04mph > longest range = 235 miles
3000rpm= 36mph, 7.5 gph, 4.80mpg
4000rpm=50mph,16.2gph,3.79mpg
4350rpm=54.1mph,20.5gph,2.64mpg shortest range=124 miles
