I have an In Control Foot Throttle and right next to it sits an In Control Foot Trim pedal. (Trim up - Toes, Trim Down - Heel). Not only does it allow me to keep both hands on the wheel, but with the seat properly adjusted, holding a steady throttle isn't a problem even in rough water. In fact in rough water, you can actually throttle (pedal) it even more accurately. I'd never had one until I bought the Progression. Now I wouldn't trade it for the world.
The other thing having two pedals does is lead to some interesting conversation around the docks. A guy walked by my boat one day at the marina. He stopped, stared, then said, "OK, I think I know what the one on the right is for. What's the one on the left do?" I looked him square in the eye and dead panned, "Brakes." He didn't say a word and walked away. Yup, my work here is done!
