Need help! Persistent Cav Burn on Imco Shorty

Can you put 1 hole on each side? How big is the Cavity inside there? I'm guessing when you are trimmed up it creates a low pressure area under the bullet that is causing the burn. it is possible that closing the bottom hole may not even be the cure. some how you need to keep the water stuck to the bottom of the drive. is it possibe to have another small hole that far back to relieve the pressure difference? IDK, I don't have one here
I think that I am going to grind a bit on the bottom front of the shorty to reduce the angle there and then create a fairly large curvature at the rear of the inlet and see what happens. I'm just guessing here though and need more feed-back from people who have dealt with this problem. Thank you for all of the replies so far. I appreciate that.

Carl, is it possible you run a prop with a lot of stern lift and to get enough positive trim to carry the nose you need to trim it more than a prop with out so much stern lift, and in turn your drive angle is excessive causing the nose of the drive to be at such a downward angle it's causing the low pressure/Cav burn. I don't know what prop your using, I'm just trying to figure what would make your set up cause that, Whereas others don't seem to have it (that they know of

Maybe next time after you run it, put it back on the trailer with the drive left in the position where you where running, then you'll get a good indication of how much postive trim you need and could get an idea of where you would need to massage to get good flow to that part of the lower unit..

Sound to me like you need to raise the drive even higher so that you don't have to trim so high. Here are pictures of mine trimmed for max speed - second pic is neutral trim.( straight with bottom of boat)

I don't have $2,000 + shipping to and from Florida laying around right now. Obamanomics are not working for me. I did try to copy much of their work using pictures of one of their drives. I talked with them and it might not even be caused by the water in-let.
Tinkerer, I don't think that I'm running much more trim then that. I'll probably have to wait a couple weeks before the water is warm enough to jump in and take a look after a fast run.
