Default How to f*&k with a Craigslist scamer?

So I'm trying to sell one of my parents boats on Craigslist and I get this interesting email back from this guy. He 1st asked what my firm price was. The 2nd email was this:

Hi There,

Thank you for getting back to me. Can you assure me that it's in good
condition and that i will not be disappointed with it. I'm ready to
pay your asking price and to be honest, i wanted to buy this for my
son, but the issue is I'm not in state right now, I'm out of state for
coaching program where i stationed for my rugby coaching. But I'm able
to access email anytime as we will make use of laptop so my only
quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal
anytime.Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i
will be responsible for all the paypal fee/charges on this transaction
and if you don't have an account with paypal, its pretty easy, safe
and secured to open one. Just log on to www.paypal.com. I hope we can
make the purchase as fast as possible? I have a mover that will come
for it once payment clears and they will take care of very necessary
paper for me. So i look forward to hear from you soon.
I need the address where the agent will meet you and your PayPal email
address so i can send the money now.

Best Regards.

What suggestions do people have to f^%k with this guy?

I got that same email when I sold my boat, and a bunch of others like it. Not sure how to mess with them.

I got the same message when selling a wine cabinet last month. Why waste your time? Go boating. Just tell him it is cash and carry.

if you use the paypal link they provide in the text it usually takes you to a spoof site. look at the address at the top when you go to it and it will look slightly different than paypal's. they are just hoping you log on to their fake site then they have all your info.

These scammers and info grabbers are thicker than flies on the internet! Do not communicate or mess with them! You are the one who will get burned!

Moral of this story is "If its to good to be true on the internet - IT IS!"
No one who honestly wants to buy a boat is going to do a transaction like this sight unseen and start talking payments until they have seen the boat and noegotiated a price and payment."

Best Regards,

Hey !! I just got this one too.... whats his email..??. Thanks for the response and I'm satisfied with the condition of the Boat..I am OK with the price and i will love to make an instant purchase because i'm buying this Boat for my dad as a surprise gift, I'm located at Escondido,California. but due to my occupation as a marine engineer at this moment i am presently working offshore, sometimes access to regular emails and phone calls are very poor in offshore due to inefficiency of the immarsat service.Fortunately the internet access working averagely and i was able to come across the advert of Boat . I really want the Boat to be a surprise for him by not disclosing the Boat until the delivery is made to him,so am sure he will be more than happy with the Boat. I don't mind adding an extra $50 for you to take the advert down from the site so that i can be rest assured that am in hand of the Boat. I insisted on PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address so i can make the payment as soon as possible for the Boat and i pay they charges and please if you don't have PayPal account yet,it is very easy to set up, go on http://www.paypal.com and get it set up,after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through....Notice you don't need to bother your self about the shipment and the international health papers,i have an international courier shipping company that will come to your location for the pick-up,they will also determine and secure the shipment so let me have the weight very well so that a waybill can be created before shipment can be done....So I will need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the making of the payment.

1.Your PayPal Email Address.
2..Your phone number.

**Once again ,I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping. I will have my mover come over as soon as you have your money in your account** [email protected]

If I had $5 for every BS craigslist spam I get I would have sold my boat twice by now. Currently I'm getting porn links responding to my Craigslist ads.

If you think you have a scammer write him back with you phone number and tell him if he is truly interested for him to call you. Chances are he will not call if it's a scam, if it isn't and he truly is interested he will call! Anytime I have an ad and get those emails I do that and I neveer hear back from the scam posts.
