Default 32 Schiada

On my way back to Annapolis and driving with the family, I'm in Arkansas on 440 and I see a blue 32 Schiada being trailered, we pulled up next to it, it had twin 525s and cusom lowers. Looked like a stout boat. I remember reading in one of the magazines a few years ago that Schiada won several offshore races. Any experience with them? Wonder why not much talk about them on OSO.

Bert, They r heavy well built never mass produced boats. Styling kind of stuck in time about 10 years ago but still very well built and not bad looking boats. Expensive price somewhat more so compared to the other westcoast builders.

They really never made that many boats in the last 10 years especially 30 ft or over range. They started building jetboats boats way back I think in the 70's. I have not seen them at any of the westcoast boatshows or boating events in years as still building anything new. Quality / fit & finish build is always very good by them.

Those things are all over Havasu. Check out River Dave's Place for details. They are a big supporter of his site, plus, he owns one.

Schiada's are very popular boats for the water ski race guys here on the West Coast.

If I am correct there is 32 w / twins and 43 w / twins. These models I have not seen a new one from them in years nor even on the water @ LHC before Desert Storm for the past 2 years of the above models mentioned.

Yes there is alot of their day cruisers / jetboats all over the westcoast water ways. Most I have ever seen were from the 70s, 80,s and early 90's year models. Come to think about it I think they started making jetboats in the 60's.

Schiada started building boats in the early 1960s in Gardena, CA by Leonard Schiada. Their first models were outboards (16') but quickly evolved into building flatbottom SK style V-Drives which were exceptional Super Stock (numerous APBA national championships) and water ski racing boats. In the late 1960s they were early pioneers in the 21' day cruiser market and were very successful in the POPBRA offshore racing circuit on the west coast. They were also very involved in water ski racing, winning the overall championship at the Catalina Water Ski Race five times in eight years (1969 to 1976). They did build a few jets, but it was not a major part of their model line.

I believe they told me that the 32 plug was made by milling machine ( CAD/CAM),and was one of the first builders starting with that .
