Well....I'm gonna get a bunch of backlash on this one....
I had trouble with my slide...and every season, it was time to redo. I did a lot of research, and in the end, I went with Sound Specialty Coatings. You can get it in ANY color that is a Sherwin Williams code. Pool is gunnite over wire. Slide is too, with hand formed hydraulic and then smoothed by hand also. Hand painted and then ssc on top (clear) Slicker than greased monkey snot. Zero maintenance. Two years old now. I actually wish it would fade a little....but it is colorfast.... |

pebbletec in 2007, ours is medium blue no issues except for sitting shelf that was half tiled and half pebble tec. The pebble tec is rough on nylon/rayon/spandex suits.

I've been in pool construction all my life and can tell you straight up that PebbleTec and WetEdge are the two best products on the market for color retention and longevity of service in the Sunbelt states.
Midnight Blue PebbleTec and Midnight Ocean in WetEdge would be the best looking colors. Note that your water will be probably 5 degrees warmer in the summer than a white or light based background. Here's a link to a thread I had a few years ago at a home improvement pool/spa forum. It'll show many colors, a Midnight Blue PebbleTec is in there. Another option which is way more affordable is a Black Sand pool mix with your Portland. There's one of them in the thread too, it'll be referred to as a 4 on 7 or a 5 on 8 depending on my mix ratio. You'll save many thousands of dollars using this instead of the pebble finishes but it will show some mottling over time that the pebbles won't show. Make sure you get all the existing membrane possible off the pool shell and use a quality bonding agent prior to the application. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load...101919994.html See ya, Kelly |

Oh and house market value here would be approx 800-1m, so I will advise them of their options but push them towards the higher end coatings. Thanks pat |
You guys no if these high end coatings can handle the severe temp swings we would get....we have a sunbelt to here....for 3 months! & then its real cold for 4 months and then fffffffreakin cold for the other 5...

God Bless the northern states and Canadian pool owners!!! Even though I truly love swimming pools I don't think I'd be willing to make a purchase of this magnitude knowing we'll only swim for a few months of the year. All of us in the greater Gulf Coast have long swim seasons. Heck, our pool water in SE Texas is already 90 degrees, I'll probably be kicking the pool chillers on pretty soon 'cause the hot water sucks as bad as the cold water does. See ya, Kelly |
