My question is this,,, if you had the same boat,, same horsepower and just switched the two units (TRS & Speedmaster #2),,, what would the difference in speed or use be?

Depends on the set up. The #2 is one inch longer than the TRS. So It might be a push or the TRS might be faster. I don't think getting the boat on plane would be an issue with the TRS, props are much better today than they were 15-20 years ago.

I had two customers with the exact same boat and power.
10 Meter Fountains with 454 420 HP. One had TRS one
had #2 SSM. The TRS boat was approx 5 MPH faster than
the #2 boat. The customer ordered the boat with the #2
becaues he thought it would be faster. He was wrong the
#2 SSM has dual pinion shafts in the lower unit. That eats
up horsepower. Also there are no parts what so ever
available for the #2 SSM.

i hear ya sinkorswim . . . .this place is a warehouse of knowlege. funny you should ask that question. i just found a couple of #2's and a buddy of mine has a fountain 10 meter with TRS's. he was interested in them but wondered if it would be worth the swap. guess we know the answer to that huh
