Miss GEICO Burns Up in Sarasota, Crew OK
Here's an update on the Miss GEICO fire in Sarasota. The team hasn't announced plans on moving forward, but they do know what caused the fire...

I spoke with Marc Granet this morning, who, like the rest of the Geico team, is devastated by Saturday's incident.
Speedonthewater.com wlll run a follow-up report on the team's future plans sometime next week.

I know it's been said before, but the most important thing is that Marc and Scotty came out of this whole ordeal unharmed and in good health. Having said that, I wish nothing but the best for Team GEICO and hope they have a speedy return to the race course.
I know that one wouldn't be able to make an insurance claim on a race boat that is damaged while participating in a sanctioned event/race, but would insurance cover something like this if it happened during practice, which I believe was the case? Even outside of this unfortunate event with the Miss GEICO, I had always wondered how far the insurance coverage goes on a race boat. Is it null and void once the boat hits the water, regardless of whether or not it is a "race"?

Is this one of those posts that does the set up for your next post of how the Miss Geico team screwed you over when they chose to go in a different direction than purchasing your boat? Based on your recent posts, I would live in a padded cell, I have never seen anyone get more screwed over than you......
Glad the guys are ok, best of luck in their decisions and look forward to seeing the team back soon

Was there not some conversation after Sharkey posted a shop tour of Miss Geico Racing that the team was working on their own hull (from a plug) to campaign in the near future?
