The sad thing is they would love too, but this is America, u make ur own choices in life, u want to take a risk that's ur choice, the government just needs to back off and out of our lives, but insurance companies are a different issue!

In order for anything fun/dangerous/cool/illegal to survive in our society... the group of people must be tight knit - and structured. They must truely believe in the action as a whole. Read on here 100 times that "they" are going to shut down "our" fun... How are they going to do that? Their boats arent fast enough... and they only hold a few people... Cant arrest 100 go fast captains til we hit land - water doesnt have the option of a road block? The problem is exactly what you said... broadcasting to the entire world our business. I dont care what they say or do... ill always go down to the marina, make my way to open water and then let er eat. If "they" wanna stop me they better get some better hardware, or just kill me. "When the fun is outlawed only outlaws will have fun" That is generally my point is the regulators don't like us anyway. I know here in Nashville and the MCPA have had difficult times over the last two years getting our event permitted. That is because of a couple folks that got a little too close to a bass boat running 100+. And we can't go offshore to unregulated waters... ask the folks who have speed limits on their lakes now about how much fun they can have now. |

First, please, please, please stop the twitter typing. ur is not you are and does anyone remember what a paragraph is or there is a space between sentences?
The video sucked for some of us that have fast boats and mine is not nearly as fast as a lot of yours. Like I stated on another forum I have no clue what the driver was doing with the throttles. It was almost like they were broken and he was trying to get them to work because no one I know would never move a stick around like that without wanting to break something no matter how bad they wanted to show off. I'm also not saying that I have never made a mistake. Who knows maybe the guy had a wake and a cross wake that he didn't see, his boat didn't respond, steering broke... I wish someone would fill in the rest of the story. If it was just stupidity with all those people aboard the driver needs to be slapped. But the vid sure don't make us look good. To me its like someone showed the inside of a car crash. It was not pretty. As for insurance. Nothing I own can be insured within any reason. We boat at our own risk. Its gives added reason to boat safe even if it is fast (by some of our standards). |

We have only the one video. The boat is not moving real fast in the beginning. Between the passengers we can see the wake and the speed seems to be in the 20 to 30 mph realm. There is a blink in the recording, maybe only a second, likely not long. It seems to me that the entire clip is an acceleration. I do not see any of the passengers yelling for more speed, but we do not know what they told him beforehand, or agreed to. The severe throttle action is what has me puzzled. I believe all the posts are just asking for an explanation. Footnote: I believe most posts are not vindictive. They are reactions to what is seen. Sometimes we react with more emotion than other times. We cannot perceive what is going on, and in this one cannot see ahead and what the driver saw. "What the ..... is happening?" On any day, the driver is the only one "connected" to the action. Wheel, Throttle, position, anticipation, bracing for actions; therefore the rest of the crew is just floating about in the boat. They are not victims per se', but have no clue what may be going on in the drivers head until the action is taken. Speed decreases the time they can react. We hope to learn something from all this pain. One thing is for sure. The driver was going way to fast for conditions, and his ability to drive through them. |

I completely understand what you are saying... but whats to stop you and ten buddies from meeting up one morning at 7am and headin out for a fun run...? I boated all summer from clarksville tn to nashville (about 12 round trips)... was there during the cmt fest on the river front. Rafted up until 1am... then cruised back to rock harbor. Never saw one law enforcement boat... with someone in it. Back home in indiana now and these pricks run around like dogs in heat. |
