Twin (multiple) O/B Vee thread, let's see them.......
I sterted a thread for my friend Pauls new Howard and thought since we're kind of a rare bird why not start a thread dedicated to our rides (and previous ones)? Would be a great way to see some of the history some of you own. Some of you have killer rides that I dream of owning.
I grew up always lusting for one and they still hold a certain mystique for me. Big boats w/big motors are way cool but just not the same for me.(thank God cause I sure can't afford one!) One of the major factors w/the O/B's for me is how cheap and easy they are to work on. Get tired of current power? Stop by a dumpster, make a deposit, screw two more on and back on the water in a couple hrs :thankyouthankyou: I know on this board currently, we have C.Mates, P.Plays, Velocity's, Midnight Express, Avanti's among others. Lets see em guys. Here's mine. 1985 24' Sonic w/twin 250 JohnRudes. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...eys6-20126.jpg http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...eflectors2.jpg http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSCF6470.jpg http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...s2-2012167.jpg |

I've been waiting for this post for a while...I'm one of the few multi-outboard V fanatics too....Although I can apperciate the roar of big blocks - IMO, you can beat the scream of to twin outboards screaming - sort of a rebel yell.
Grew up on a lake that had a 28' checkmate with twin 2.4 merc's called Black Majic II.....thought it was the sickest boat and could always identify its unique sound when it came around. Since then I was hooked and have not looked back. Below is my first OB. I encourage this post to include any multi-OB V pic's that members have. It would be great to have a extensive library |

Here's the current ride - been searching for this boat for 10 years. What are you guys seeing for speeds?

42' Outerlimits, originally had 600's from the factory, one blew up, replaced with 800's, one blew up, then my friend bought it and put the 350's on it. No shops around here that can properly rebuild high performance engines, so outboards are very popular. I'll always love the sound of a pair of V8's but I must admit at 6000rpm the superchargers also sound pretty sweet.
He recently ditched the bracket and put them on Detwiler jack plates directly on the transom and made a platform/pocket so they still trim up all the way. Next mod will be pushing the rear bulkhead back for extra room in the cockpit. Meanwhile on my boat, the 22 year old guzzler had a defective ECU, had to ship her back to the manufacturer. Still waiting on a refund! lol http://images108.fotki.com/v191/file...1008011704.jpg |

Turning into a great thread. Exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks guys!
Puslare, way cool. Been watching it's progress and anxious to see it in person. Shaun, if you look close at the title, I added "multiple" for that reason. I know CaptainCrager has triples on his. Love your 28's. Way up on my list but figure w/their rarity, the chances of one surfacing when I have the jing is just as rare. My sonic is currently stuck at 70 until I get motivated for more testing. Probably a couple left. How about you? TuffBoat...., bad ass my friend. I eluded to your boats in another thread. Maybe the "best", current, modern, and well built O/B on the planet. Well done sir. I followed your initial builds and tests on S/F. idealrides, your friends NT looks killer! Interesting what you see when you live in an area that limits your local choices. On your 22 yr old guzzler, you can send it here for re-programing. Just tryin to help a brother out ;) |

Here is my 1998 27 avanti with twin merc 250's. I absolutely LOVE the boat!!!
Last year had my fiberglass guy redo the stringers and transom and came out beautiful and rides fantastic. No complaints here, it's going to be tough for me to go back to big blocks as much as I miss the sound, these 2 stroke 250's have performed flawlessly (knock on wood). It also had a radar arch with radar on it as well as I recall. |

The 39 Sutphen I posted was built in 2006 for Bob McCoy from Canada. It was delivered new as an outboard.

Different one then.

The one I saw was on Rice Lake in Ontario in about '02 or '03 and had the V-8's on it then. I'll have to see if I can find the pix's.
In their Sept. '02 issue is a picture of Bob McCoys 39' Sutphen w/twin 900 SC's! It does have the tube arch and radar. So when I saw it was either before or after that and when he converted it to the V-8 O/B's. Small world. |
Bob McCoy had a good sized stable of boats. Sadly, he passed. Had a Nortech with a tall windshield.

Ton's O potential for a guy w/a barn and more time than sense. I can say that since I've been that guy too many times in my life :helmet: I'd love to have it but after more than two yrs of thrashing to get my Sonic going, and no inside storage........, not gonna do it. |

Those are on my A list and if I wasn't 1500 mls away and had a place to work on it, I'd have bought it from it's previous owner.
