SBI Races on Lake Michigan this coming weekend. Last year the race was called off due to rough water conditions.

my bad didn't know they raced there, what do the call a race like that? "inshore"

they called off the st pete races 8 or 9 years ago due ruff water, 5 to 8 footers, i had an awesome time out in my cig mistress hammering that chit all day, even to i didn't get to watch the OFFSHORE race boats run.

back in aranow's day, did they ever cal off a race due to ruff water conditions????

That's like calling off a football game cause the linebacker is hitting too hard, or calling off a baseball game because the pitcher is throwing too hard.....

some might be pretty surprised at what the Great Lakes kick up... Lake Michigan, and Lake Erie have hosted some pretty serious off shore racing back in the day that made a few boats wonder 'what the f$(k was that'. Do a search on here its been brought up time and time again how snotty the water can get and how fast it turns.
Not uncommon to head out for the afternoon in 2's and come back in 6's a couple of hours later.:cartman:

I was kind of surprised they called it as well, but I was happy as HELL to be off the lake when the storm that caused the cancellation kicked up. I had just put the boat on the trailer when it hit....80+mph winds...lake went from 1 footers to 8 footers in no time flat and kept rolling all night and into the next day (which was to be the day of the race). I actually had to pull my truck over on the highway as I couldn't see past the hood when that thing hit. It was NASTY.
