I spoke with Bob in Miami a few years ago and he said he would love to have the Scout molds back. I sold my restored Scout a few years ago, and I look forward to seeing a Center Console model..

What type of glass and resin ? Use of wood ?

Just curious,

What is the price on this, and what is your boatbuilding background?

Very good question rchevelle71. My first Scout has not been completed yet so I can't tell you the exact weight of the boat or the exact price until it's finished.
Just that it will be comparable to other boats in it's category. As far as your other question, my area of expertise is the United States Air Force, Aircraft Maintenance of 25 yrs.
I am consulting with Bob Saccenti on building the boat and following all the marine safety and structural guidelines set by the US Coast Guard.
Please feel free PM me if you have any more questions.

From what I've seen of these boats making an I/0 would be a pain....
You'd lose most if not all of the back seat, & have major hatch clearance issues to work around. If you look in the pic I posted, towards the rear of the boat there's not too much freeboard......(less than a sm sutphen, scarab, etc.)
So I'm thinking to get a motor back in there, set it to a good height....you'd be left with about 1/2 the height of the engine you'd need to build a hatch over. I Think that would kill the look.
It would be fun though!

The I/O scouts (1986-87) had the cockpit moved forward to make room for the V-8 and still have a back seat, didn't have the long bow look of the O/B boats, and yes the engine hatch did have a bit of height to it just to clear a small block due to the low profile hull... didn't look bad though.

Yes, Bob Saccenti was very happy when he saw the molds again. Don't want to get in depth about the layup specifics yet, only to say that I am using the newest fiberglass materials and technology to make the Scout lighter and stronger than the early models. As far as wood goes? It's up to the customer. Can't wait to see the C/C model myself.... Here's a photo of the molds before the layup began....

I can't wait to see this one completed. It should be something special.
