I'll be for real, you are "eleventy" levels above what most guys see for power, but that temp is important, where it's measured even more important. You don't need a bazillion dollar motor to know that.
One would think so. I take my temps in the pan.

I'm sure a Builder like Bob Teague, must have a reasoning behind running the oil cold. I personally would rather have oil on the cold side, rather than the hot side, but ultimately, have it at a temperature it was designed to run at. But then again, I'm not Bob Teague, and if I had his engines in my boat, I'd leave the setup up to him.

Hey Gary, shoot me a PM with your email. I think I have a short video of you passing by Michigan City I took this late September... I can email it to you if you like.

I will. Still trying to send it to Gary, the darn file is too big to email. I need to figure it out.

He was just cruising on by, wish I had more time to zoom in. You have to see it in person, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.

my cat uses both bellhousing coolers for the oil,but i run oil thermostat and it still takes a while to see 160 deg oil temp, the mercury setup measures temp before the cooler i believe.

I put a Canton oil stat on one motor and it raised the temp from 140`ish to maybe 165*ish and the oil was bypassing the oil cooler.. never saw any differences between the motors, no condensation anywhere

Proper Oil Temp

Oil is tested for rating at 212F. In other words single weight 30 is 30 weight at 212F and multiweight 10w30 is 30 weight at 212F. Proper operating oil temperature is about 200F to 210F. Too cool oil will cause extra wear & tear on your engine.

Has anyone heard from Teague on the reasons or theory for not running a stat? I would think there is a method to his madness. Or is his cooling system that perfect where it self regulates? I believe it to be highly unlikely but thought I would put it out there.
