Just the usual "those with the jingle walk, and those who have nothing to pay, pay with time served"
I'd say it sounded like TDCJ expedited him through the system.
My brother was recently released after 9 months on 5yrs for a nonviolent 1st offense. I'd guess he did maybe 12-13 months on a 7yr ride.
pslonaker, tell your bud "parole is better than probation" but you've still got to toe the line 'cause they ain't hurtin' for bed space anymore.

Chubby did two years on the six year sentence and said that he is glad that he is away from all of the Obama wanna bee's of the system. Now he is spending his time with his two boys at home.

If you think I'm on his case your sadly mistaken.
Everything I saw in multiple threads about this lends to the appearance that others payed with large fines while he payed with time served instead of cash.
I'll stand behind this statement. What do you think would have been fair considering he couldn't pay a stiff fine?
How about a slap on the wrist and a pinch on the ass as he walked out the door for his criminal actions. Where's the accountability with not paying something like your time or money?
Those with the jingle have it easy, cough up your coin and move forward instantly. Those without take a slow boat through the system which, as I noted, expedited him through the process of reaching parole. Your absolutely correct, he's still paying his dues to society over the long haul.
This is rock solid advice for a parolee in the State of Texas who still has to finish his sentence under supervision out in the free world. There are more available beds now than there ever has been at TDC so your well served remembering this and keeping your act together everyday.
