Thanks for a lot of great ideas. I will be checking them out this weekend and hopefully getting out of the cold for a few days soon

funny!! I heard you have to pay extra to get a room that doesn't smell like vomit. You do have to have at least one drink on the roof top bar though. Way cool view of the island.

We love FM Beach almost as much as the Keys. They call the area on the north end by the bridge "Times Square". Almost everything (entertainment) is within a couple blocks of there.
Parking/driving on the island is a PIA. Bikes rule.
They also have a trolley that runs the full length of the island, is on a regular schedule and is cheap. It will actually take you over the bridge and off the island at both ends.

We like a couple places. This one is right on the beach, at Times Square, very reasonably priced, clean and you get tiny/cheap rooms or nice w/full kitchens. We stayed in a 2nd floor suite over looking the beach a couple months ago for I think $119ish for four of us.

Stayed at this place a while back as well. Being boaters, this place is way cool. The rooms are small but since we were never in them.....
'50's era, fully renovated, and on a corner lot canal dockage on one side and river on the other. Absolutely gorgeous.
Nice pool and also a private bar for your own private Idaho.
It's a few block south of Times Square and a couple blocs from the main drag. In exchange for that you get quiet.
Also very affordable. We looked at it for a future destination w/the boat tied up out front.
Loved it. Same people own several other places too so you can shop.

Hope this helps and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
