Island Automotive?? No, talked to them yesterday.
Those guys are the **** though. They do all my work that I can't/won't. Sometimes even trouble shooting for me so I "can" do it myself. I tell them this up front so as not to appear to be screwing them. Twice they wouldn't even take my money
Second time I made them.

Terrible, how do you put a price on something that was restored with his bare hands. I imagine insurance value is fairly low Stories like this have me looking for a "low jack" type system for my boat this year.

The guy started w/a 25' Bertram hull, added some beam, added some length, added reverse chines, added a pad to the bottom, notched transom more freeboard, more flare at the bow, tumble home at the transom etc, etc and then...................., built his own mold.
The aft spray rails are actually part of the mold. That and the tumble home mandated a two piece, bolt together mold.

He then laid them up and built three of them w/100% vacuum infusion.
The inside of the hull, under the floor in the cabin is straighter and cleaner than most hull sides.
To do it justice, you had to take 15 mins w/your phone off, by yourself and just snoop through. Open every hatch, every cabinet door, look up, under etc. In other words, where 99% of the boating public never looks.
I've never seen anything like it. He's insane

Man that sucks!!! I hate a ****ing thief!!! I don't call 911, they are worthless. I have the sheriff's dept on speed dial.

One thing I can tell you, if I were a neighbor, I would have been checking them out myself, locked and loaded. I live in a rural area. We try and look out for one another!

Ernest - I was thinking the same thing. I live next to a private drive and if someone drove down it with their light off I would call the police and then they would find my 6000# pickup parked across the drive. OH and I would be packin.

You and Tinkerer.

The eye witness lives in a trailer park at the end of the main road, past the turn off for the industrial park which dead ends.
Most of the people in that trailer park are snow birds so frankly, I'm surprised they did what they did.
Where I live, and the boat was stolen from is actually a mile south of Sebastian proper so they don't patrol it. It is covered by the Indian River County Sherrifs Dept.

Someone on another site questioned it being an inside job and I don't think that's the case but almost had to be a local scout. That boat was the owners baby and was locked in his shop 99.9 % of the time. I actually drove by the shop the day of the theft and noticed it outside (in the fenced in compound) during the day but he had trucks/trailers perked all over from being busy and needed the shop space. So it was only out for a couple days and disappears???
And before someone says it, no it was not an insurance job as it was not covered, being locked in his freagin building all the time and hardly ever on the water.

Sucks.
Based on the rarity of the hull (assuming the thieves are smart enough to realize that??) it will probably be found stripped, on an abandoned road some where in the ghetto.

I had hundreds of hrs of labor invested in that thing too. Was trying to talk the owner into letting me use the hull mold and build one w/2' less free board and my own deck
