As for the reported speeds ... I am going to guess that, based on the model year of 1988, the boat had a pitot-fed speedometer. Trust me, even the best of those things were notoriously "happy." GPS has given everyone a reality check. I was very straightforward with the owner about my misgivings on pair an Alpha drive with anything close to that horsepower. I felt I had to be up front with him about that given the years I spent in and around high-performance boats at Powerboat. I'll continue to follow this story as it evolves. |
Very ambitious.
30k will buy a sweeetttt 24' skater! Also I had a 22' scarab kevlar hull , 600 hp, bravo. 84 GPS mph tops. Very little interior, no cabin. |
30K to make 100mph in my mini-lightning is a fream, this guy is nuts.

He must have gotten a LOT of parts from wyl-e-coyote, ACME, and Hanna- Barbera

Following up ...
The owner called me this evening. Apparently, a few upgrades to the original engine, prior to the installation of the blower, were omitted in our communication. I should have asked better questions. At any rate, I will update the story—and this thread—tomorrow. |
will read for sure!

Alpha? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Isnt that the same hull & deck as the Scarab I

I wish him the best of luck. I've only seem one Switzer on the lake and its currently sitting on the ground on one of the main roads. Never seen it running that hard (80) but its quite possible its a different boat.
I've always liked the look of those Chaparrals. Maybe an Alpha SS but no way in hell is a standard alpha going to work. Best of luck Chris |
