I was just stating facts about the boats when it came to pound for pound racing with same engines and drives along with weight. I believe thats as fair as we can get. It wasnt the highst speed ever accomplished just fastest pound for pound all else being equal. If you look at the bottom of the new 29 outerlimits its the same bottom as the fountain just added a new step. Someone used the same strakes and pad. Take a look and prove me wrong. If its old technology why copy it? Its identical back to the 3rd step. No other boat uses the bottom that reggie did. all you have to do is take a look. Edit: Sorry I missed your spin out comment. I'd say thats highly attributable to driver error. Are you saying fountains don't spin? |
... wait for it

Not for nothing its the second time" driver error" has been mentioned. I wasn't aware fountain and Ol were sticking rookies in their race boats. Oh. They weren't. Careful when you say that.

Until OL runs 171 and change, Fountain has it period. Skater/Cig didn't do it even with Mercury building super secret quad turbo motors. Shoulda woulda coulda, but bottom line it didn't happen. 171 is hauling the mail, if it was so easy to run the number it would have been done by now. I would easily take a SV43 or SV40 over a 42PR but all of them are bad ass in my book.
Rumor it has the fountain crew just happened to "visit" OL during the development of the ol29 |

Speed is not relative... it is an absolute. 145mph 52ft OL with 1350's. Thas an absolute fact. 38zr is a great boat, but no where near entering the "fastest step bottom boat conversation"i
Put the same horsepower in different boats of the same size (ie F2 race boats) and one boat will be the fastest. That hull is therefore the fastest (relative to the power it has - all things being equal). That is all I am saying. And yes, Fountain holds the fastest V bottom record and should be commended for it. It takes big b@lls and HP to do it! |

Yes a speed itself is absolute as is the equation to get the number. However if the equations are different and the speed is the same (or vice versa) then it is relative.

Go out and look at the 29 bottom. Its identical to the fountain from the keel up about 12 inches. Fountain is the only bottom out there that has that particular design. I never said he stole anything. He copied, just as he did with the skater V bottom.

What about the boat Nigel spun and blew apart? It was going straight. He has ahd some choice words to say about the bottoms. I just watched the video. WOW
