the fact is, like it has already been stated until someone beats Fountain if there in business or not. With what ever power you can put in it, they are the fastest to this day. The Q/ was who has the fastest v bottom, not who has the fastest pound for pound v bottom
if someone has a rocket ship motor bolt it on your boat and set a new record talk is cheap we all want action! i hear Fountain is working on a top top secret boat with 2 F18 jet engine in it, the going for 200mph + in a V bottom!
that is not going to be uncovered until someone trys beat there record

You sure do like mentioning that fountain "CLOSED SHOP". Is this the only defense that you have? Yes fountain is closed, yes I'm sure Reggie wishes things went different, but the fact is that he still holds every record for Veebottom boats. Fountain has won everything there is to win, and only a blind idiot will say that Fountains are not great boats. Fountain was doing things with boats 10 years ago that everyone else wishes they could do today. OL might not be concerned about world records but that was a great advertising campain for fountain. Oh and like previously stated how many people are gonna buy a 52ft OL??? If you can afford one that does 134mph then why not buy a bada$$ MTI that does 180?

I look at it this way Reggie was Macy's, Cigarette is Nordstorm and OL is Neiman Marcus.
Between the 3 they have/had something for everyone and like Macy's, Reggie has gone broke, not as many times as Macy's but still the same.
Did NM ever make the profits that Macy's made in it's day - no way! I would bet Reggie in his glory days was making more money than OL does in today's dollars?
I'll add this as well, without Macy's there would be no Neiman Marcus like there is today. Without Fountain there would be no reason for OL to build the boats they do, OL exists because a handful of people with lots of money don't want the mass market Fountains.
OL builds what they build not because Mike F wants to be the "best", they build what they build because Mike F plays in a niche market with a handful of people who are above average means and demand a certain level of product - he provides that. That level of product maybe real or imagainary but it is thought to be better than a Fountain. Just like shopping at Neiman Marcus is a better all around experience than shopping at Macy's.
As for the record Fountain has the speed record as Macy's held many records for retailing in it's day. Neiman Marcus has records, records that only those hand few of wealthy people can appreicate. I would say OL has records of it's own as is pointed out in this thread as well, but how many people care about them, only the few that can have or want an OL, not the mass market performance boater.
it's Macy vs Neiman Marcus

yes a speed itself is absolute as is the equation to get the number. However if the equations are different and the speed is the same (or vice versa) then it is relative.
Put the same horsepower in different boats of the same size (ie f2 race boats) and one boat will be the fastest. That hull is therefore the fastest (relative to the power it has - all things being equal).
That is all i am saying.
And yes, fountain holds the fastest v bottom record and should be commended for it. It takes big b@lls and hp to do it!

"we will always be the worlds fastest Vbottom AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO UP THE MARK"so here we are almost 10 years later and they never were the fastest Vbottom and they have not continued to up the mark
the question was not who builds a 52 foot Vbottom that few people will want to buy that goes 26 miles per hour slower than the worlds fastest Vbottom went almost 10 years ago
the question was who builds the worlds fastest Vbottom.....and no it was not even who talks about they could do it if they wanted to or if they bothered to try or if they bothered to race when there is a race to be run or even what they will do in the future (but never bothered to do after saying they would).....it was who actually has bothered to do it
who in the hell "gets scared" by talk that is never backed up

Actually, speed is relative, or it would be meaningless.
The surface of the earth at the equator moves at a speed of 460 meters per second--or roughly 1,000 miles per hour.
The earth is moving about our sun in a very nearly circular orbit. It covers this route at a speed of nearly 67,000 miles per hour.
In addition, our solar system--Earth and all--whirls around the center of our galaxy at some 490,000 miles per hour.
In your case speed would be relative to a fixed point on Earth

oh wait you are saying you don't have a clue and did not watch the video or see the part of the video where the owner of OUTERLIMITS claimed his boat was the fastest, would always be the fastest, and that he would continue to push the limits in the future as well
and then when Reggie Fountain gave him a chance to prove that on a regulation kilo run with two sanctioning bodies timing it and two boats running the same engines and the same props going against each other the person that claimed their boat was the fastest, would always be the fastest, and that they would continue to push the limits ran away scared claiming mechanical troubles even though there were plenty of people around that would have pitched in to help solve that
so yea way to not have a clue what you are talking about because it was the owner of OUTERLIMITS that made three claims that he has never backed up and has apparently given up on ever backing up......his boat is not the fastest, it was never the fastest, and he has never tried to make it the fastest since then
