I think its a pet peeve to not clue your friends into proper etiquete. To complain about them not offering to chip in is BS. If you want them to bring stuff or gas money just tell them. What? Your being nice by not saying anything (I never ask) but coming on here and talking about your friends behind their back? Thats stupid.
Maybe the reason they cant chip in to go on your boat is the same reasoin they dont have a boat. THey cant afford it. Dont get me wrong Im sure your friends can afford a case of beer but maybe not $200 in gas money for the day.

Wow, you guys need new friends my only complaint is the same as above, "get me back by 4? NOPE!"
Ok, maybe I have one more...a newbie or novice jumps off to help with ropes and just starts yanking the front in pulling the back out and possibly causing dock rash in front of the fenders. I actually like when people that do not know what they are doing just stay seated. I can dock and tie up all by my self

Mine is actually a little of the opposite: when people bring too much "stuff". I have some friends & family who bring enormous beach bags, multiple coolers, back packs, etc. Everything but the kitchen sink! I look at them like "where the heck am I supposed to put all this crap?!?!"

If I'm going to ride on another boat, again I ask up front what they expect of me as in beverage & snacks or what I can do ahead of approach time to the dock/anchorage in terms of line or anchor handling. I always ask the "skipper" what he wants to me to do.
On my boat with pax, I explain ahead of time my intentions with regards to docking or anchoring and what I want only ONE of them to do (designated 1st mate) when I say do it. Extra folks onboard I tell to simply stay seated and/or out of the way of my and my designated 1st mate's movements until cleared to disembark
Otherwise, it's those who promise to show up on their boat and I expect it as part of my intended good time....and they don't. No call, no heads up prior to the start of the day....just well my cat, my dog, etc. That ticks me off more than anything.
