Bahamas Vacation
We are thinking about planning a Bahamas vacation in July for 5 days. I was wondering where the best place to stay is? I would like to be able to rent a boat and island hop. I wouldn't mind planning something where we spend a night on a different island. We want to snorkel, fish and just relax. I've been to Freeport and Grand Bahama so I'm really not looking for that.

I have no personal experience but did remember this thread when reading yours.

Thanks I'm going to look into that

Whenever a topic like this comes up and cant stop from piping up and suggesting Austin's place. I by no means am getting any kick backs for all the positive posts. My wife and I had such a good time I wish everyone could experience it once! Nothing like having a boat for your hole vacation with out worrying about breaking down....Ad that to the scenery and it just rocks!!!

We stay in Nassau, love the Bahamas! Have fun

Although I haven't been there, yet, The Abacos is the place to be for what you describe. My friends have been twice on their boat and we will be with them on their third visit on May 23rd. If you don't go on boat, then fly into Marsh Harbor, rent a boat for the week, stay on one island and hop to others. Although we won't be staying at Austins place, we will definitely be visiting for sure.

"Sandals" all inclusive resort in Nassau, Bahamas. I've heard a lot of good things about Austin's place as well. One of these days we will get the chance to check out his place.

There are some nice places in the Abacos around treasure Cay and that area with little boats for rent. Unless you are looking for a lot of crowds and tourist feel I would stay away from Nassau. Also a lot of nice little places in the exumas, if you search or VRBO you can find a lot of cool places for rent and some of them have small boats or have a place nearby.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input. I defientely don't want crowds. I'm going to check out Austins place this morning.

Staniel Cay Yacht Club
The best place to stay inThe Bahamas is Staniel Cay yacht club in the exumas. Your stay includes a boat rental which is a 13 ft Boston Whaler and all gas is included they will even pack you a lunch if you are going to be gone for the day.

I have been to Atlantis for one day while on a Disney Cruise a few years back.. I have booked a 6 night stay at Atlantis for late August. They have a really cool water park and some really nice beaches. They have what appears to be a nice Casino, however I haven't actually been in it.

I have stayed in both the Abaco's and Staniel. Love both. Either one will give you what you are looking for. If you go to the Abaco's try for Guana Cay or Turtle. Either is great. We rented a house on Guana called Key Lime Cottage and it was fabulous. At the time we had a boat there so it worked really well but there are a ton of rentals there that are great and I think getting a boat is not an issue. Staniel is tremendous. The snorkeling there is the best in the world especially Thunderball. We rented a house there near the yacht club and it included a boat as well. The yacht club can fill up fast but it's great if you can get in. As was said before you can fly in there. I think you have to fly to Nassau first though. Getting to the Abaco's is super easy if that makes a difference. We have stayed on other islands in the Exumas and there is nothing like it in the world but it does help if you have a boat. I highly recommend both. Oh and great exuma is not bad either. Easy to get to, haven't been there in several years but it was fun as well. Doesn't have the small island feel but it has some really quaint places that are away from the hustle and bustle. It's not like Nassau or Grand Bahama (Freeport).

Just got back from Atlantis this past Sunday for a week and it was everything and more ...waterparks for kids..casinos..eye candy...waterparks for grown ups...place is huge...only problem is don't go for less than 5 days, you will be disappointed about not seeing full island, it's massive..
