Default Yo, Troutly

Missed ya on the river, but nonetheless, we had a good time.

Launched at Lake City Marina (never again) boat launch sucked big time . Put in noonish Thursday and it rained the whole fricken day (not much fun with a fairing and no enclosure). By Thursday evening it was hot and humid and the sun was out. Took a quick boat cruise and relaxed in the cove near Diamond Bluff. They have a nice rope swing that the kids found. They had a blast.

Friday, was just great, headed up the St Croix, stopped at the Kinni for a few hours and made our way up to Stillwater. As you said, it was very busy, no where to dock and it appeared as though the water was high up there. We headed back South, stopped at Hudson (Dicks Bar) for a great burger and made our way back to the casino.

Saturday, we looked for ya but decided to head South past Alma for a sand bar break. Kids did some swimming while we took it easy. Got to see (on the water) Thirsty Turtle motor by in his Pantera (nice ride) as well as some other guys. One guy who I have seen many times on the river runs a 29' Fountain (single) with red/black checker flags and this guy was just out with some friends motoring it up non stop. He would pass, then turn around and drive by again, and again, and again..... Definately out to burn up some fuel . I motored with him last year between pools and never stopped to talk to him.

On Saturday, Lk Pepin was in her prime as the winds stirred her up just right, made for some good boating . Unfortunately the blow boaters use the water at that same time but we managed to have fun. We headed back to the Casino Saturday night just to see if anyone else showed up and the only guy I could find was "innthered" with his 47' Fountain. He must have been in the casino because his boat was all covered up and no one was around.

A guy from the Twin Cities brought in his 90' Houseboat with full side thrusters. What a rig for partying He walked the rig sideways down the entire marina and docked along shore between docks A & B It was quite a site.

Talked to the guy who just purchased the 65' Sunseeker who docks at Bayport. He also stayed at the Casino and he had a hell of a time docking it Friday night. He could not get the stern into the dock due to the current. He now wished he would have gotten the stern thrusters. He put three nice sized scratches into the side of the hull . Said he has twin MAN V10 Diesels with 32" 5-blade props turning about 40 MPH. You probably have seen it docked up near you.

BTW, the Corps are dredging south of Pepin near the cove. They are making the cove smaller (wonder why ) so there was a small slow no wake down that way. From the looks of it, the cove will be quite a bit smaller. They are filling in the North side with a large mound of sand.

If you got out, hope you had a good time.

Take Care

Jeff and Family.

Got your PM and responded.

I forgot to tell ya that on the way home, one of the frick'n trailer tires blew out . Was lucky enough to have an off ramp near by to do the change without the traffic

I told the wife that the only TWO times I have had tire problems have been when we have launched the boat up or near Red Wing. Last time was when we launched near my friends house near Diamond Bluff. I was lucky that time to be able to run into town to get a new tire.

Oh well, could be worse.

I saw your boat on the beach. If I would have known it was you, I would have stopped to meet you. We had some friends beached in the backwaters on the WI side.....that's where we were headed.

Sounds like Brad in his 29 Fountain. He just Whippled the 500EFI, so he's out getting used to his new horsepower.

Bruce, maybe next time. BTW, your pantera sounds REAL nice , I hope the water cops don't bother you . I could hear you coming around the bend and just waited till you past on by.

Must of been that Fountain guy hoping I was ready to get back on the water........was probably looking to whoop my ass . That same boat and I last year were motoring from one lock to another mostly WOT was for a very interesting ride hitting some of those cruiser waves. We both looked at each other at the lock and gave the thumbs up.

Even the dreaded water patrol in Red Wing has left me alone!

I would like to get some sort of mufflers though as I think the noise enforcement will get greater rather than lesser.

Jeff, Sorry I missed you Sat night. We were actually sitting on the Cruisers, Inc boat next to mine. We had a little party going with the 42 Wellcraft across the dock and a couple other people from B Dock. I was telling everybody that looked at the boat to go up and win a bunch of money and they could buy it. By the way, if you know anyone interested in a 47 Fountain, this one's for sale. More info at Boattrader.com. That 90' house boat was really nice. I can't believe they got it in and out side ways. I just missed seeing it leave Sunday AM. Post again when you will be on the river, maybe we can catch up with you.

ITR, kinda glad I didn't stay in the marina Sat night because you must of heard the same ole Kareoke music I heard coming from the C dock . I am suprised that the marina allows that, especially at that volume.

We should be out around that area over Labor Day.
