Most of the Jap Companies had something that could be considered pretty fast during the mid-90's, and would still hold there own against a lot of stuff today.
My 1994 Rx7 runs a sub 5 second 0-60 time and a 13.x quarter mile time from the factory - not bad for 15years ago. http://www.fd3s.net/magazine_article...article03.html Twin Turbo 300ZX Twin Turbo Supra Twin Turbo 3000GT VR-4 All were pretty decent contenders in the 1990's. ed |

Yup, you got me there.
ed The ZR1 was ahead of it's time. The Viper was ridiculously powered, but lacked the driveability to be really safe on the road. It might as well of had a live axle as it could never keep traction. Also notable badsass 80s cars: 1989 Turbo Trans Am Any GNX and the later model Grand Nationals. There were 5 or 6 Fieros built by GM with Grand National powerplants. They were FU fast, and handled well; far better than the Corvette. For that reason, they never had VINs put on them, and were never made available to the public as nothing could eclipse the Corvette's performance per the GM board room. Albeit the 1989 Turbo Trans Am did just that; and the marketing materials were detuned as such. http://cdn2.carsdata.net/pics/Pontia...ace-car-03.jpg |

I tend to agree with you. the late-70s through mid-90s was a pretty low period for American muscle cars.

On a positive note, I got a ride on an Active Thunder. I was able to experience the homosexual bolster, 80MPH thru 10FT'ers in 60 deg air temps, AND make a bag of popcorn. As you can see, we are both happy. Theres just something about the homo bolster that makes you smile. Boat rocks Mike!
