Bashing of Manufacturers/Brands

Why is there so much bashing of different boat brands on this site? We all share a common love of boating and we should be a "family" of sorts. It's disturbing to see the constant bashing that goes on. We all love our boat and have our own opinions on our favorite brands. If you don't like a particular brand, that's fine, but stop bashing another guy who may love that brand. OK, off my soap box!

Mostly good natured razzing.

Kind of like when guys raz each other a out ford vs. mopar vs. chevy.

No big deal really as I'm sure we would help another out even if we don't prefer the boat manufacturer they do.

I agree. Some just get their panties all bunched upped.

Probably because someone could spend a couple hundred thousand dollars on a boat only to open a thread on OSO to read someone calling his new boat short or slow, or splashed or heavy or gay or (insert criticism here).

A guy buying a 200,000 dollar boat should not give a rats ass what folks on an Internet site type. :lolhit:

Crude Intentions 07-03-2013 09:08 AM

Because fountains are the fastest. Cigs can run in a hurricane. Active thunders apparently make good popcorn. Formulas are built better than all else. Everyone else has a bayliner. That's what I gather. Lol

seafordguy 07-03-2013 09:13 AM

If we can't talk about

the fact that Cigarette's are slow and haven't been a competitive force on the racing circuit in years
or that the LOA on a Fountain is suspect
or that Baja's latest boat paint scheme is a copy of another brands from the 1990's
or that most Outerlimits paint Jobs look like Ronald McDonald barfed on it after drinking every Mad Dog 20/20 variety
or that Active Thunders come with built in popcorn makers and the owners are part of a cult

than that really only leaves us with threads on Truck Towing Capacity, and those threads always peter out quickly.....

ajnoe3 07-03-2013 09:20 AM

Baja's are for rednecks (I should know, I only seem to get sunburn on my neck).

But in all seriousness, I get it man, people do seem to trash talk a lot of other boats. The reality is that most boats built in the last decade and a half have been miles ahead of boats from prior to that in quality. Even a Bayliner is not that bad anymore (although i don't have any interest in one). I like my Baja, I think it looks really nice, rides great, is built well (not a Formula or Cobalt but still a solid boat), and has enough power for me (for now). I will definitely buy another Baja in the future and don't give a crap what others think.

MonkeySea2 07-03-2013 09:23 AM

I think the razzing is good and fun, but I'd never tell a guy his boat is crap. I have been reading some of these threads that just get out of hand with guys going back and forth tearing eachother apart. Personally, I like all of the brands! They all have good/bad points.

hahaha, oh no, here comes the 'They don't build them like they used to...' crowd.

Back4More 07-03-2013 11:25 AM

Good question. Most owners want to think they bought the best or have the perfect fit.
Others realize they bought wrong and defend their purchase to the death. And believe it or not many know nothing but just what they see. What amenity is important to one may mean nothing to others. My boat is an old 93 and it fits me perfectly on Lake Michigan.
I would recommend that hull to anyone that runs in confused waters @ the 5' wave height that doesn't want to over night more than one night @ 2 persons. That's why I have the SeaRay also. :)

Bashing?
You should spend a few hours on a snowmobile site, that's where you see bashing!

TylerBurich 07-03-2013 12:26 PM

I check on the forum over at pirate4x4.com every now and then for ****s and grins. Now there's some serious bashing!

kreed 07-03-2013 12:50 PM

A lot of the time, the bashing begins when some brand cheerleader comes on here thinking his boat/brand is holier than thou. He insults a couple people, and then everyone gets pissed at his non-sense and start bashing him! Its usually a well deserved lynching, but most of the time ends peacefully with the original poster apologizing! LOL....

Haha so true! When is Stinger coming back? :party-smiley-004:

KRAUSMOTORSPORTS 07-07-2013 02:28 PM

I haven't seen anybody bash IMP! :lolhit: oh maybe that's because I've beaten every cigarette, apache, fountain and formula I've ever raced! RC boat that is!!!:lolhit: but in all honesty they were decent boats with strong hulls for not outrages amounts of money when new. And mine runs 70ish but great for the average joe. All in all every manufacturer has its pro's and con's.

Fountains are the best and every other boat manufacturer sucks! Period.

dykstra 07-09-2013 08:57 PM

LOL. I can't even type that with a straight face. I like them all! What matters to me the most is that you are on the water enjoying yourself/friends. From a canoe to a yacht, they are all cool.

myattitude 07-09-2013 09:50 PM

Hey my Apache is a 2002 so I am good right. Lol. Enjoy guys we are lucky to have what we have no matter what brand.

Etechs? The magical sleds that do not use any gas or oil? It takes fuel to make horsepower. Good luck with your crank bearings.

TRL505 07-10-2013 09:14 PM

I think every person who has posted on this thread has a whore for a wife/girlfriend (myself included)....or in the case of anyone who does not own a Fountain...boyfriend.

Jus sayin.......:party-smiley-004:

POWERPLAY J 07-10-2013 09:47 PM

Move this dribble to the Fountain forum, make way for real boats LOL. Ask Flyin Bryan about the boyfriend thing. I believe I accused him of that a while back. It might be a Fountain specific issue (sorry B I had to bring it back up). :drink::drink::drink:

POWERPLAY J 07-10-2013 09:49 PM

She might be a whore TRL but she is my whore and I obey every command...:riding:

my 2013 800etec is great on fuel noticeably better than my 2010 800r. it eats oil tho! its too smooth. i liked my 2010 800r carb sled way better.

There all just scaled down splashes of Noah's arc... 40 days and 40 nights hitting solid 6 to 10's. Animals running that boat I tell you, pure animals!! No stepped hull, no carbon fiber, no fancy blue motors, no turbine cats with hot tubs, no spectral vomit paint job. Just the real deal!! Ask T2X, he was there!!
