On-Off bottom cleaner works awesome it is a very strong acid but it does not harm anything except your skin! It takes the rust and stains right off my exhuast tips and my trim tabs not to mention the transom looks brand new after.

soft scotch pad and polishing compound

I looked at the "lime away" bottle. It is actually CLR.
The stains just laugh at CLR. :mad:
I haven't tried Flitz metal polish or a soft scotch pad and polishing compound, yet.

Was down yesterday trying to rubb off the stains, no luck yet.
It almost looks like coke or coffee color stains.
Wierd, my last boat had the same MFG of pipes and they always shined.

??????????????????

Thanks for all the ideas!!!!

I agree, CLR is the way to go. You can get it at your local Walmart.

The best stuff is called
AUTOSOL its a paste and
cleans the Brown stains
using a towel.
It will also clean around
the flanges and weld areas
using a soft tooth brush.
Its made in Germany they
also have a web site.

I use The Works Tub and Shower. Spray it on, hose it off in 30 seconds.

I watched the guys at Custom Marine use muratic acid (swimming pool deck cleaner), and the stains just vanished. Just don't forget to follow up with LOTS of water and a good mist of WD-40!!! Also - don't get it on anything else. :eek:
