I agree there should be a day of time runs or drag 2 boats at a time, and then a poker run. This is very sad it could happen to anyone running fast. Just look at how successful LOTO is.

I swear I have seen that video before. I don't think it was from the 2013 Cumberland run... Maybe I am wrong, but I remember seeing this or a very similar video months ago....
Same boat, different video.........Bill Pyburn, Pure Platinum 388 Skater. That guy probably has more seat time at 150+ than anyone on the poker run circuit, not saying something couldn't happened but the guy has plenty of experience. |

From watching every PR video I've seen from last weekend and long ago, the problem is obvious. You have extremely fast boats running on open water on a lake, a lake that's open to everyone. These PR drivers are in a race, and they end up WOT. The runs are long, and it's about the only time they get to show off their boats and race.
But you just can't. You just can't. If you can get those runs on a closed course for once a year, go for it. The video Sam showed is an extremely dangerous and reckless driver. He was obviously trying to cut the corner and gain distance. He went recklessly between two boats, and was headed towards more just portside ahead at a very high rate of speed. |

there is a tremendous amount of personal responsibility that needs to go along with running these boats. like many have stated its far to easy to guy and buy a 150 mph cat and to often most don't have enough seat time to own something like that. wonder how many guys actually have run smaller cats and worked their way up ? I had to laugh in the thread about Skater building a entry level cat and some of the big cat guys thought that it'd be a good addition to their fleet. aint it supposed to go the other way ? when I learned how to ride a dirt bike I started on a xr80. seems too many start with a KX500. |

If I was out with my family, anchored to watch a poker run and someone comes flying by me that close, at that speed..... I will find him and will be voicing my opinion with the first shot to the side of his head, period. After that, if I get my ass kicked or not, oh well. (Not trying to sound like a tuff guy, because i am not. but you endanger me thats one thing... you endanger my wife and/or daughter..... i have no tolerance) But I am sorry, no matter how respected a driver may be that type of crap is what is giving this sport a black eye. Look at it this way, take a handful of go fast haters turn them loose on YouTube, and they will take those two videos in conjunction with the unfortunate accidents of recent and it really makes us (go fast boaters) look bad to anyone looking in from the outside. |

I certainly don't want to point fingers at anyone, especially at this time, given this unfortunate accident, but I just came across this video on You Tube- also from the Lake Cumberland Poker Run.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AoHBQNqNSg From what I can see, this Skater separated form the rest of the group and made a very close pass between that Checkmate and a few other boats.....:eekdrop: Why go all the way over there when you have more room in the main channel of the lake? Before we all make knee jerk reactions, why not just ask Gatorone...looks like his rig. Could be wrong. |
