videos like this make me sick ... this is exactly why accidents really isnt a accident . its called stupidity .. just saying ..

Something to think about: Why is it that we as enthusiast always put speed and HP at the top of the list and safety at the bottom when it comes to how we spend money on our boats. Just a thought as how the priority in which we spend our money on our boats mirrors how we drive our them when around other enthusiasts.

I hate to say it but looks like PP was blocking he sure did come over on Brad and Jeff. No reason for him to get that close!! I will leave it at that.

A pleasure poker run featuring boats purposefully built to be faster than the next one.

All this talk about speed limits on these poker runs and safety. Why do we have all these spectators at these runs? Everybody wants to see the fast cats run! I do and everybody I know does too! Would there be any spectators at a poker run with a speed limit, NO! Go ahead and put a speed limit of 60 on these runs and you would not have to worry about fast boats and spectators being hurt or killed because neither would be there. By the way the next time you are in your car on a two lane highway doing 55 and you pass another car doing 55 at about 3 to 4 feet, sounds pretty dangerous doesn't it

While I didn't know Kevin, Brad or Jeff I do know that both runs on Lake Cumberland are managed, overseen, thought-out and governed by persons that are competent and knowledgeable about the "poker-run" scene, I know these persons personally. While it is truly unfortunate that a loss of life has happened it is none the less inevitable with this sport. Yes it is a sport. The organizers are not personally responsible for this tragic loss of life. The Coast Guard was on the water, a heavy presence of F&W was on the water and to me it was apperant that they made every attempt to keep some of the local idiots out of the way. They just cant do it all, there will always be someone that interferes on purpose or inadvertanetly. The Cruiser we all see in the video was IMO to close to the course, F&W missed them, or they moved closer after a F&W patrol passed. These things we cannot control. Stupidity and inexperience go hand in hand. Kevin, Brad and Jeff all had the right to run as fast as they wanted and felt comfortable with. They are gone but not forgotten, we all must realize that this is a dangerous sport/activity, we all love it and desire to not see it regulated out of existence. I don't see any reason why this event like all others like it will not come back next year. If I have any voice in the matter then it will stay.

I'm sorry guys I sat on this reply for the last couple hours. This is the irresponsible narrow minded thinking that lets your ego make poor decisions about the safety of others. It is not your "right" to be out there, it is your privilege. It is your responsibility act accordingly because every single boat out there has the same privilage and the set of rules to keep each of us safe does not take into account this kind of thinking.

hell i got a idea maybe s spectaters we all can just sit in the course and they can weave around us.....tell yall what im riding down the lake and some pulls out like that in front of me its on.....if nobody thinks any different bout common sense especially at a event....please stay the hell away from my lake!!!!!

On closed courses, I would never suggest someone regulate anything anyone is willing to try. But on open waters, that include any type of spectators not policed to safe distances, I'm afraid it's going to end up in the inevitable, at which point we shall all be f$ched for good.

That video showed a clear Choice. No forced turns, the driver made that decision on his own. He CHOSE to go that route, between two boats, and did it in a very dangerous fashion. The other participants should decide what to do about that after briefing them on the video.

I was at L.C. for this event and its sad this happened ,i think the poker run should have more safety boats on patrol to keep the coarse open , i also think they should ,make them draw straws to who leaves first make them leave .3 minutes apart ,give them a nice radar trap to pass to fulfill ego.that would keep it much safer This poker run is over in less then 2 hrs. also make the the boats over a certain speed say 100 mph put up some sort of retainer (5000.00) to be safe .
