+1 - We did the same as Derek, it worked fine, just be careful of pinch points.

Vincent showed me this trick a couple years ago. It works like a charm. I do this now just to replace peoples bunks on trailer and the boat and trailer never have to leave the shop.

I agree to use the assistance of a marina, most have hydraulic trailers as well. You can but your boat in the water, and they can bring it to your home with a hydro trailer and block up if you are uncomfortable leaving it there.

1 block the back of the boat up off the trailer, use cinder blocks or wood.
2 block the front of the boat up off the trailer , use cinder blocks or wood.
3 remove the tires off the trailer, drop trailer down, put the axles on 4 wheel dollies.
4 get 2 or 3 6x6x10' from a lumber yard.
5 slid the 6x6's between the trailer and the boat.
6block the 6x6' end with cinder blocks.
7 remove the cinder blocks from step 2.
8. drag the trailer out.
9. it works done it many times
