I'm considering the 43 punisher a Chief and forgot about Formula. As for Checkmate, Baja and Sunset ion IMO they aren't even in the same class as the others I mentioned. But for the record...they are still building

So the F4 is in a class with Baja? :party-smiley-004:

Problem is that nobody really knows what power was in that Fountain that day. They could have had 1500hp gas pump engines that were making 2000hp on race gas and set on kill. Lots of custom engine that actually made more power the. The boat manufacture said it made.

The only way to compare speed is with stock known power. On the same day on the same course. There are just too many variables to compare speed of boats unless they are racing the same day like at the LOTO shootout. Even then the air temp and water conditions can make a difference.

But this thread is about opinions. Some may like Baja because of the old school non-stepped hull. Sunsation boats are definitely in the same league as other go-fasts. Maybe that is a Michigan Secret. Formula is a top notch Aronow brand with up-scale cabin and features and still decent cruising speed. The new Checkmate (27?) looks nice but we don't know much about them yet. My my experience is in smaller v bottoms 30ft and under.

In that catagory the SV29 OL blew my mind. Not only was it fast for the amount of power but it handled the big chop like a champ. It is the first V bottom that I have been in that made me want a v bottom instead of a Cat.

So for under 30ft for fit and finish, speed, handeling, and just plain sex appeal my vote is the OL SV29.

Sunsation and Formula are still making boats, attending boat shows/poker runs......C/B not that I know of.

All things considered I would say Cigarette. If money is no object flip for an Outer Limits or Nortech.

All three will cost about the same......500K+ if you want 700's etc. None of those 3 are giving boats away...

It is also admirable that OL is venturing back into smaller boats......Cig ditched their 30 10 years ago claiming they weren't profitable models. I don't remember Nortech ever having a go fast 30 ft or less (CC yes, but not I/O go fast).

So how do you consider a 43 Punisher built by Checkmate, painted by Mitcher T a class above Checkmate when it is a Checkmate?

43 Sunsation F4 is a nice boat, they built about 15 of them before the economy tanked the bigger go fasts.
