I would say we were very surprised. The ocean was pretty flat and we were running hard and trimmed out. The huge swell came out of no where. I was never in fear of going over and the boat reacted perfect! ,I puckered due to my fear of heights! :D

Skaters are also built MI which I like. On a side note what is cool about boats in general are that Most of the Bada$$ ones are built in the US. I would guess that the majority of the bada$$ accessories are too. I really dont care if they cost more (to a point).

As someone mentioned earlier, Skater with DCB rigging would do the trick!

Yes all Dcbs are gel coat even the big ones

Hey Gino. Heard your back in the game with a 44. Congrats. Relaxing now with a 09 fountain TE center console with trip 300 merc and another 2 years of warranty. Miss the speed but my wallets a lot happier. I'll do something stupid again soon. Best to you and wild man Larry.

Very nice discussion amongst cat owners, very respectful. Good job guys.

will have to agree... SO many discussions on OSO turn into bashing and cursing each other! I guess the cat crowd is more sophisticated than some of the others :party-smiley-004:

Well that's cause I'm the leader and I set the tone... Even when it gets going back and forth, it should be taken in good fun like if we were talking in person at the bar over a couple beers like we were arguing who's sports teams are better. Lol

Im gonna chime in here with a few comments. I've owned a couple Eliminator's, a 800 h.p. 22 daytona 110 mph, a 28 daytona tall deck whippled 502's also 110 mph and the current boat a 36 Nortech with Potter 1000's 135ish. I have not been in a Skater, however I will agree they are probably the fastest hull out there for a pleasure boat. As alot of members have stated it is personal preference or your boating area/style. I am mostly a river/lake person so I don't want/need anything bigger than the Nortech. I have also taken it in the ocean and it did great, but in the ocean bigger would definitely be better. The Nortech is a heavy boat and built like a tank. It feels very safe, solid, stable, and does'nt do anything weird. Also the Nortech does not feel "flighty" like some other cats I have owned and been in. Another thing about it being a stoutly built boat is it does not visibly flex (like the dash) like the Eliminators did when you hit big waves. Being a tank it is a bit slower then the skater or similiar. My big thing is I wanted a cabin area. Get out of the sun or stay the night on the boat. Very, Very few M.T.I.'s, Skaters, ect, have that. Thats why I chose the Nortech. It was worth it to me to be a couple mph slower to have the cabin area. Albeit is a bit small, but its useable for what it is. If I did'nt care about a cabin I would choose a M.T.I.. I say that because they have a really nice interior just like the Nortech. It looks modern. Not knocking the Skater but their interior or at least on the older models is way to plain and looks very dated (like 80's) for my likes. If I was in a lower budget or wanted a smaller boat again I would get another Eliminator. They look great, handle great, and just do a really good job at just about all of it with in reason. I don't really care for the DCB dash on the F series boats. I think the eliminator dash is much more pleasing.

Several people have mentioned Skater interiors. I know Blume was working very hard to get them to "modernize" their interiors and they have made great strides over the past few years. I certainly hope that continues! Pete and his crew have built "race boats" for many years and I think it still is his passion.
What turned me to MTI was the fact that ANYTHING you want will be considered and built for you if possible. Look at the black diamond boat. He wanted TV screens built in and they did it! Not my style at all but that's what the customer wanted. Theme boats also, maybe not my cup of tea, but again that's what the customer wanted so that's what they build! That's the way a business should be run, IMHO.
Mine will be as light as possible (carbon layup), with no crazy frills but with big ass motors, but that's just what I like. Hell I didn't even want a stereo! Didn't figure you could hear it over 150 anyway! LOL.
We as cat owners are fortunate we have so many great choices!
