The best cat today is……

The one you can afford to own. Except for a very small handful, most of us will never order a new one. That leaves a limited used market of some great boats and some junk. The problem is, if you get a junker, it can cost you a six figure repair bill and you still may have junk.

So for me, it was a Skater. I found someone to trade our Sea Ray cruiser on the Skater (best boating day of my life). It was a deal that took 9 months to put together. That being said, I would gladly own any of the major brands. I would be looking for the best deal if I were in the market. Let me qualify that, I would be looking for the best deal in my price range…..the kings quad 1200 Nortech might be the best deal on the market but I couldn't afford to run it for a month.

I had a F-29 in 2003, it was the hotboat and Powerboat magazine cover boat. Nice rig.
The 48 power has yet to be determined. It might have something new depending upon what is available when it's time to rig. Right now it's 1350's if nothing else comes up. I looked at 1650's REAL hard, but hauling fuel to a pleasure boat doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks for all the compliments on the Skater, it is a gorgeous boat!

Speaking of tampon's and boats... I know of at least three cats that would have sunk if it was not for having a tampon to stop a leak. We have tampon's in our safety kit when we go along ways offshore, they are a good lightweight and quick way to stop water from coming in a hole or through a hose.

How bout speed numbers with different stock Merc power? Plus we don't know I these are numbers with boats set up right or for top speed.

I know the 388 with 700s will do about 129-132
I've heard the 40 Mti does about 125 ish with 700s

Just to list a few. And I believe So's 40 classic with only 2 steps and not widened has done about 160
