I know the 388 with 700s will do about 129-132
I've heard the 40 Mti does about 125 ish with 700s

Just to list a few. And I believe So's 40 classic with only 2 steps and not widened has done about 160
I don't have Merc power but my numbers
40 Classic
16.75 x 37 props
1050hp by dyno
93 Octane
140mph at 6200rpm
about 1/4 tank of fuel
props turning in
1:35 gears (I think….not a gear head, so these are just numbers to me. Doesn't mean a whole lot)
calculated slip was 11% at the time (so you can work backwards if you need)

Before I owned it, the boat did 160mph with big props, motors turned up, and race fuel.

Have you ever tried spinning out? It will be faster.

I ran the numbers and I come up with 13%

140 is fast enough for me. Actually 100 on LOTO is fast with all the PWCs bee bopping around without a care in the world. I can't wait to run her in the open ocean next year. Then, maybe 140 will not be enough.

11% is our number so something I gave you is wrong. It must have been 6000rpm When we did our practice shootout run, 1 mile at 30mph start, we hit 131mph.

Notice***please don't take this thread into how fast is too fast, insurance companies are reading this, lanyards and life jackets, blah blah blah*****

What he said..... Pyburn has had almost every kind of Go Fast boat on the planet and he is building another 388 Skater.... That speaks for itself.....

Google this and watch the video.... "Bill Pyburn & Co. Discuss the Spectacular New 388 Skater Platinum Editions with PBN!"

Coming from a person that never owned an MTI, he just dosen't know any better!!!

I personally feel that MTI's are the best built "Safest riding" cats made. But what do I know?!

When I finally cash the piggy bank in I'll be placing an order at skater for a 40ft flat deck, and sending it to DCB to rig and paint... Personally like the skater lines and the DCB "WOW" factor.
