Lost my pup today

Some SOB hit my dog and didn't stop. I wasn't home and the wife called and told me she thought the dog had been hit but couldn't bring herself to go check. Called my best friend and he rode down to the house and confirmed what we feared. I had three dogs and she was the baby. Gonna miss her a lot, had some bad habits but she was funny.

I am so sorry. It's the worst part of owning dogs. I've gone though many dogs in my life and cried for each one lost. I've been here a long time and I have a little dog (and 1 cat) cemetery in my back yard! I always own 2-3 German Shepherds.

I know how you feel. my dog of 14 years is going to have to be put down in the next day or so. she has been everywhere with me but she has a tumor and now she cant walk so she does not have any time left. been a hard few days here. pets are better people than most people are and it is tough everytime you lose one.

Sorry to hear that. I've been down that road several times. Cancer is the highest cause of death for dogs. A good vet will sedate the dog first. As hard as it is to do, please hold the dog and comfort him/her while the deed is done. I've learned that it is nothing to be ashamed of to cry at that time either. :(

Sydwayz 12-15-2013 09:50 AM

Very sorry for your family's loss Dave. RIP little buddy.

Very sorry to hear, I feel your pain, I had the same thing happen to me, the jack wagon never stopped. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do was to pic the pup up off the road.My pup Max was out cold, so put him in the truck and rushed him to the vet, was heartbroken (crying) the whole way there, at the vet they took him to the back, he didn't look good, they told me to go home, we will call you if anything changes... They called a few hours later (I thought this was it), to my surprise they said come and get him he's fine just a little beat up, the car didn't run over him, Max bounced off the car.... A lady stopped the next day and said she had seen the whole thing, she said guy that hit the dog didn't even slow down, she got part of his plate number and what kind of car it was, the cops wouldn't do anything.... that was 7 years ago I'm still keeping an eye out for that A hole today.....Again I'm very sorry for your lose...This is Max, he may not say a word but I know everything he tells me, whenever I walk through the door its like he's hadn't seen me for years, he always make me smile when I'm down......They are mans best friend..

yahoo 12-15-2013 11:27 AM

So sorry for your loss, I have 4 dogs and care a lot for all of them.

Not to be ass hole, but I would never let my dog outside in the front yard without a leash, and not because its the law.

mallatt442 12-15-2013 11:35 AM

We all may think we are tough guys.....right up until you bury a pet. I would just as soon take a beating.

machloosy 12-15-2013 12:04 PM

JWay 12-15-2013 01:12 PM

Sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is like losing a family member. Go to your local rescue and get yourself a new pup, I know it won't replace the one you lost but it will help, and you have never seen love like what you get from a dog that no one else wanted and you saved from certain death.

No offense taken. Our yard is fenced. The wind blew the gate open and she got out.

87MagnumII 12-15-2013 03:36 PM

Thanks guys for all the support. As much as I'd love to have another dog I think we are going to focus on spending more time with the two we still have. They are getting older and I just don't think I'd have time to raise another pup at the moment

KRAUSMOTORSPORTS 12-15-2013 03:37 PM

Sorry for your loss 87Mag We fear this day weather it be accidental or from old age. Our Dobies are our kids. (Klutch-4 and Jett-2) Wife and I chose to not have kids so we are very attached. Remember all dogs go to Heaven. And our dogs are inside our gates at all times but accidents happen and when we least expect it. I remember getting a call from our neighbor that both of them were out. Wife was home but somehow the gate was opened??? Don't know how but anythings possible. I called back to back and finally she was able to get them in. But even though there good your stomach still drops out of your arse.

12meter joe 12-15-2013 07:33 PM
