Didn't say anything about efficiency… My 540 Vortech motor is in vacuum til 4100 rpm, I cruise at 60-62 mph like that.
|
Thanks again, I'm starting to learn a lot here. Yes I think its a good deal but I want to make sure its right . More power is good, too much is broken bravo or toasted engine.
|
OK so you are saying your motor is in vacuum under 4100rpm regress of throttle position or load? Wow thats one good supercharger system you have if it can't create boost under 4100rpm... enter sarcasm icon here.
I was simply giving my personal opinion since maybe he was looking at buying a Vortech, He seemed new and was asking questions about a supercharger for a 502. If nobody mentioned other options or opinions then what use is this forum? Why are all you Vortech, Procharger guys so sensitive? MP |
Warning!! Buying a Vortech or Pro-Charger may make you defensive and sensitive. LOL
These systems are good for the money and if the deals right and you can't swing a Whipple then I say go for it. But you need to know what the trade offs are before you make the purchase. When I was researching supercharges for my 502 I ended up going with Whipple. I seriously looked at Pro-charger and thought the Whipple seemed like the better choice. That was back in 98 and I have only bought Whipple since. There are very few centrifugal supercharges being used for many reasons. That does not mean that they are bad, its just that there are better solutions. Mark Boos can map any SC and you don't see him selling many Pro-Chargers. He has done them all and his choice is Whipple. |
I have a vortech and responded in a thread about a guy asking about a vortech, I have no idea why your sweatin me on it. Insert sarcasm where ever you like.
I was referring to 4000 rpm unloaded cruise in vacuum since that's what your reply said. Seeing how much boost you can make in a "holeshot" is why people blow bravos and then scratch their head as to why. Buy any super charger you want, I could care less. I just see over and over that this SC does this and this SC does that, and more often than not the information isn't accurate.. I have a 3.3 whipple now, my 500 Vortech kit is for sale in the swap forum. |
From what I`ve seen a Roots type blower is the way to go .. them centrifugals seems to be quite a pain in the AZZ
|
Please post pics of your setup when it's done. I need some encouragement. :)

I had a set of 500efi's in a 01 35 Fountain and put the Vortech marine kit on it and had EB Marine install and do the tune on the dyno. They made about 800hp and ran great for about 200 hours I just couldn't keep drives on the boat. The next owner built a set of 555 CI lowers and used the same blowers and made almost 1100HP!! He is still running them. He ran that boat 118 in the LOTO Shootout a couple years ago with SCX drives. It was honestly all about the tune and Eric at EB did a great job tuning the motors and they were solid. The best thing IMO about the way we did it was we tuned the motors on the dyno then put them in the boat and did some additional fine adjustments.

no,the screw blowers are the way to go,whipple or psi although turbo charging is quickly coming into play.soon roots blowers will be a thing of the past imo.
Turbo.... No load on the crank Easier to maintain over time Cheaper Variable ecu mapping Lower octane friendly (corn fuel) The only real significant drawback is egt....but very manageable. I have an xtrim in my mustang efi, whipple in my lightning efi, b&m 250's on the twin carb'd Merlin's, turbos on the 2nd gen rx7 efi, and a miniature centrifugal on the rc boat..na The rx7 requires the least amount of attention. .02 |
