Who was it?

A friend of mine used a know builder for his eliminator by lake texoma and it was 70k out the door for a carbed 540 rigged. His butt still hurts. Oh yea they charged him for the sea trial.

All these posts are making me more and more happy about doing my own work. I couldn't be in this hobby with those kind of prices.

Lots of truth in that. Although I do think they overcharged you. But it the engine is rock solid and strong after the fact you did not do that bad. Problem is you will need to pay up to find out.

If it has been 15 months and you have to pay the full amount prior to him picking up the engine from the machine shop, I would want the details of when it is going to be completed. It may be another $17k to install it.

yea, my boat and I have a love-hate relationship, it loves to piss me off and I hate having to fix it all the time. it is still fun when it works though.

Nice statement there!

Very sorry to hear about this half-a$$ed mechanic treating you like this. Nobody should be treated this way. Best of luck with it all.

Do u have a copy of the estimate and any of the invoices, post a picture of them , just block out the mechanics info if u want. Would like to see what they say.

Just post the invoice. Is the mechanic and or builder putting a guarantee on any of their work? That alone can make a big difference.
