I'm assuming the $200K is refering to the BJ hype markup right?
Following some OSO expert offerers logic; that boat is only worth $39K tops, full of fuel.
:drink:

SS930 01-08-2014 07:28 AM

Greg, is 2014 going to be the year you pull the trigger???

Orthobam 01-08-2014 08:29 AM

Has this boat ever been listed for sale anywhere else?

The more I think about this, the more this seems strange........but I still want it!!

J-Bonz 01-08-2014 08:42 AM

Back In 2006 or 2007 Ocean Performance was showing it at the NYC boat show...

precisiondetails 01-08-2014 10:13 AM

Those do not look like 575s, they look like some crazy fancy 1075s...

I think this option is a bit out of my budget, but who knows what tomorrow brings.

I actually prefer the white Mojo in complete movie form with the Shell Oil stickers and all.

Maybe if you stopped spending umpteen tens of thousands of dollars on following the poker run circuit all year!! ;)

44MTI 01-08-2014 11:04 AM

This is you Greg, I forgot how sharp that boat turned out. Looks as beautiful as always.
Haven't heard or seen anything about it since Chris, I think thats right, took it to BJ yrs ago. I also don't remember it being on tilt trailer. It will be interesting to see what it brings.

flight club 01-08-2014 12:12 PM

Greg, I think your on the money at 200, 250 still a deal with the tilt and Hummer

Randy Nielsen 01-08-2014 01:21 PM

Didn't it sell last time for around 175K in 08? I remember thinking I could have afforded it for what it sold for which was way low IMO. Randy

44MTI 01-08-2014 01:22 PM

Not looking to buy, just curioius. But does anyone know when this one will go through. I feel $250 would be a bargin with out the Hummer, but you never know what a boat will bring at a car auction.

precisiondetails 01-08-2014 01:26 PM

So what is the official power of the boat? Those aren't 575s in the pics

Cash Bar 01-08-2014 02:17 PM

They are 575s. Both boats built for the movie had them. I believe both still do

If it goes for $200-250k Ron or MC I expect one of you to own it.

Goes through Sat night last I saw.

The boat that sold for $175k relatively recently was a bastard 6 seat 39 with a copy paintjob and a questionable history.

This boat(and toys) last sold at BJ I think and the owner has added a lot of cool stuff. Has been about 4-5 yrs since sale.

Here is a video posted by new owner or a buddy.

From BJ: "This 39ft MTI is equipped to the max with new 575 Whipple Stage 3 upgrade motors with only 40 hours on each engine. That is 750hp on each side."

tomtbone1993 01-08-2014 04:24 PM

Fantasy bid time....I will say 205K

precisiondetails 01-08-2014 04:30 PM

Yes but look at the pics, they are no 575s

Orthobam 01-08-2014 05:20 PM

I'm out.

Rbesola 01-08-2014 07:24 PM

Nice boat but not near as cool as if it had the original paint job. Just another boat now in my opinion. Still be sweet to have no doubt

BamBam 01-08-2014 07:45 PM

How do you see where the bids are? I can't see the current bid pricing based on the link provided

vbot24 01-08-2014 07:48 PM

They are most likely 575's with a stage 3 whipple pushing them to 750'hp like the ad states. The stage 3 whipple and filters are why it doesn't look like a stock 575.

Here is a link to an MTI for sale at Mecum next week in Florida. Not sure if it is an absolute auction, like Barrett Jackson, or not. Not quite as nice, but could go cheap.

Remember:

These big production TV and similar auctions are:

First: A Business
Second: Entertainment
Third: Advertising/Branding

Somewhere way down the list: Actual Market Value...
...also skewed as:
Then there is the Buyer's Premium, the Seller's Premium (Commission), the Proxy Bidder's Premium, Sales Tax, Luxury Tax, and probably 6 more fees I can't name off the top of my head.

Contracts are signed on Reserves that don't always match up with what happens on the block and/or TV. (Watch the show Chasing Classic Cars for examples of this.) If they want a similar model to sell later in the auction, they will "adjust" the bid/sale price of the lesser model 1 hour before it; just to motivate the crowd and buyers; and the seller of the first (lesser) model still gets the Reserve price he signed a contract on; even if the "hammer drop price" is less than that Reserve.. It all comes out in the wash (read: overhead/commission) after the books are done if/when the expensive model sells an hour or a day later.

Also auction companies have the ability and right to hollow bid (no actual buyer, usually done from the back of the room or phone) to raise "room" value/bidding up to where they want it.
Half the lots finish/sell OFF the block, and maybe once or twice in the parking lot. (Remember the story of Schuble & the Powerplay Auction?)

I'll occasionally watch a bit of these auction shows just to admire the vehicles; and that's about it.

Sydwayz 01-08-2014 10:25 PM

Also, remember the boarded up GM dealer field auction covered by Rutledge Wood from Top Gear USA?

Cars/vehicles in that field were selling for twice what you could by similar models for on eBay; at the exact same moment.

78 Pace Car comes to mind......sold for like 80k yet it was in rough shape. Search ebay, you can buy 3 ultra low mile ones right now for 80k total!

Sometimes when they drop the hammer on you, you have been HAMMERED! They know ALL the tricks!
