LOL...I will never get sick of it. to me, this is the very defenition of real offshore racing!

I think it's more of the wave height this and that, flat water, dry water, wet water, soft, salt, apache this fountain that, cig this but outerlimits that, donzi vs jet skis that, its hot here, cold there, blah blah blah and and and and holy chit I think I'm losing it!!!

Most people look at a wave and double its actual size. Waves are measured from the average sea to the top, but when you look at a wave you are looking from the bottom of the trough to the crest, therefore doubling the size. In person (not through the cameral) on that support vessel, most would call those 16 foot seas.

When I tell someone I was running in some 3 foot seas, they look at me like big deal, but then I rembember that is what they would call 6 foot seas.

Wave height should be trough to crest. Those seas I posted are in no way 16. They are 8 trough to crest.

ICU, you are correct, I was thinking wave amplitude, which is from average sea to top of wave. I am not disagreeing with you, I am saying that in person on your vessel, most would say those were 16 footers when they are really 8. That has been my experience, I'm not sure why waves in person look so much bigger than they really are.

Or in Hawaii they measure wave by the vertical face.
