My thoughts on sunny are I have seen a few wrecked along with AT and Cigarette on more that one instance I have seen the sunny literately broke in half. I have never seen that with At or cigarette. you half to look under the skin. I would rather have a baja over the sunny sorry not a fan. keep looking

As far as cracked hulls what about Lucky Strike's old boat Pink Flamingo (38 TG) that "pool whore" was running out in California when the hull split 5 ft down the side......no wreck just a split hull that sunk the boat! |

So I took a smaller step first to a 32 Sunny. Now I’m ready for the next boat. So, looking at the boats today, what is your pick? Despite looking for a Cig, the recent Cig price thread made me think of this post from a few years back. |

To be fair, almost all of the Sunny wrecks were the first generation 32 SS twin step hull, many previous owners of 28/32s stepped up to the new design and drove them like their old non step boats......which got them in trouble. The one that split on the chain of lakes ran aground at a very high rate of speed.....terrible crash.

Well if the OP did buy a 38 TS TG 5 years ago he probably would have made money based on the asking prices today. As for the other options, Sunsation doesn't even make I/O powerboats anymore and not sure AT has made more than a few over that same 5 year period. I loved my MCOB and with kids it was ideal as the cabin was basically "ventilated shade" at slow speeds. Today I would probably steer clear of I/O stuff just due to the total lack of shade. So maybe a 33 Powerplay CC with I/O's solves the equation! :D Someone else was asking about TG's and the subject of cheaper Tigers popped up. I think the Tiger is a good looking boat and shouldn't be ruled out but the cheaper ones aren't real updated in the paint dept. 302 posted a few links of cool boats from OL's to Hustlers all around 100K and they looked decent but they were all about 20 years old. |
Complete apples to oranges comparison IMO. If you are taking the kids out, why would you want a 38 TG with a cabin that is not really usable except to get out of the rain. That in of itself cost you half of the usable space on the Cig. On the other hand, keep in mind that the 36 Sunny includes the molded swim platform in the length so it's not a tremendous amount bigger than the 32 Sunny. The mid-cabin will open the Sunny up and give you the most room of the two IMO.
With this said, a new 36 Sunny will be pricey to say the least. You might want to consider some other options at the price-point at which you will be. ** I looked and drove both of these boats and the 37 Active Thunder before going with a 37 Outerlimits. |
