Jupiter - I am the OP and I dug up an old thread because I’ve been shopping for a new to me boat. I was compelled to bring this to the top because of another thread that was discussing TG values.
I’ve done my part of hounding the people I know about their opinions and feedback on the boats I’m looking at so wanted to reach out a bit more.
The note about the cuddy is valid, for me. The boat is for my daughter and I. She is 7 and wants a cuddy so she can play and watch her iPad when she “gets too hot” 🤦🏻*♂️.
I enjoy the open cockpit on my 32 SSR and value the taller freeboard. A safe and comfortable ride is important to me. Also, on the depreciation/value point... seems like if I can find a 38 TG TS 06+, it’s the safest buy as far as resale is concerned.

You are mistaken again, I boat on the chain of lakes I know exactly where the accident happened and I could personally tell you he was not a beginner boat owner, that was Dan that raced for a number of years in key west, so please let’s keep it real
To be fair, almost all of the Sunny wrecks were the first generation 32 SS twin step hull, many previous owners of 28/32s stepped up to the new design and drove them like their old non step boats......which got them in trouble. The one that split on the chain of lakes ran aground at a very high rate of speed.....terrible crash!

Background
So I have been the proud owner of a '06 Sunsation 288 MCOB for the last two years. Looking to move up to the next boat and bypass the 30-33ft stage. I have also taken Tres's course.
Needs
I have a daughter and my girlfriend has a son and they're both 2 years old. We want something that is going to be able to accommodate us today as well as into the future.
Where do I boat?
Lake Cumberland and will likely travel South to join in some of the Florida PRs
Truck - 2011 F250 Lariat CC, short bed, 6.7
What I want
From the powerplant perspective, if I go with a Sunsation it will be built new and done so with 520s. If I go with the Cig it will be used and focusing on '09+ 525s in order to bypass the CMI header debacle. Top speed isn't my concern. Either package will get me into the 90s. I want reliability! XRs with ITS is really catching my attention and with the Sunny then we get into the whole digital shift and throttle controls which I think rock.
Comparing the two, which one is really going to provide the best overall comfort and ride? The MCOB is something I'm quite fond of because you open up a ton of room you don't get with the traditional cuddy. More so, as the kids grow up, they will want to invite friends to come along for our weekend excursions to the lake. Again, this is where the extra room has its benefits.
Active Thunder came to mind but it would be a custom one-off which I believe is going to be outside of what I am able to afford.
Thoughts?

I prefer the Cigarette and would not buy the Sunsation, but I don't have two (2) year old children going boating either; that factor alone persuaded me that the Sunsation would be family friendlier.
Either way you decide, will be a good decision, get it, drive it, enjoy it, build good memories. I wish you the best.

The pics posted back when it happened showed a boat sitting in very shallow water, less than knee deep. Hope he made a full recovery.

Buy a TG with good paint, fresh headers and enjoy it! I think the prices are high for 10-12 year old boats that are out of favor (favor being new OB CC's) but as Tommy Gun predicted the nice stuff will pull a premium since the production numbers dropped significantly after 07-08.
My buddy had a 38 Powerplay with a generator and that thing was literally a ice box when the genny/ac were on in the cabin. He let the kids get cleaned up after the day at the sandbar and they would hang out in there to cool off and watch the flat screen tv! It is nice to have options!

You pick nice colors for your boat but grammar isn't your strong suit (know it all vs. no it all)!
Then if you took the time to read the post above yours (#75) you might agree that your post here was non sequitur.

Stop the bashing, JS. I’m not running you aground for the fact your boat got repossessed... but since old forums have gone away I guess it’s tribal knowledge now.
