You guys think you can change human nature and you can't. I just operated on a 5'3" 265lb with a broken hip. She if 53. Do you think if I tell her to eat broccoli and chicken she will? Nope. She's going straight to Golden Coral when she is discharged. I can preach to her until I'm blue in the face about how important it is for her to lose weight and she will still drink Mountain Dew and eat Snikers.

The same goes with preaching to guys with big fast boats about slowing down. It's not gonna happen. The guys who have been responsible and looked out for others their whole lives will (I'm in this group) will continue to make responsible decisions on the water. The guys who have been idiot jackasses their whole lives will continue to do so tomorrow, next week and next year. YOU CAN'T FIX ARROGANT AND STUPID!!!

We only run fast in the mornings and for very short bursts then we back off. Why? because we care about our lives and the the lives of others around us. Forums, safety courses and lectures aren't going to make stupid people smart which is why in 2024 I'll be reading the same story different verse when it comes to this stuff.

That being said….if you pull up beside me and the lake is clear…..game on!!

I agree you cant change human nature....but promoters of these events will not be able to put these events on when you invite a bunch of Type A personalities from around the country to the same body of water.

Some of my favorite poker runs I have attended did not have set times for stops or started from the same spot. Spreads the boats out and really makes a big difference in my eye. I love going fast just as much as the next guy, but I also take my family out in a Malibu, and had the big boats get to close for comfort for me....just my .02 cents

I did't think people were invited.

I hope to do KW and Miami next year and was just going to pay my entry fee and show up.

I was going to do Desert Storm this year with the same intentions but my niece some how picked the 1 weekend in the spring to get married that it happens to fall on. I was going to see my friends new MTI be delivered there and get to take a few rides but now I'm going to be doing the YMCA and chicken dance.

I don't think that. I want to at least say the right thing. That should always be done. As to what happens in life, those involved will have to live or die with the results. That's all.

Man if this keeps up there going to put a speed limit on the shoot out... I don't go to poker runs to watch 200 mph boats go 90 why dont they shut down a couple miles of the lake and have it as a"run wide open "spot i think it would take away the urge to hammer down at random and unsafe times

First pslonaker your an idiot and continually prove it!

Second, sorry y'all if you look at the history if a poker run IT IS NOT A RACE!! It is meant to support some sort of charitable effort and benefit someone or some organization in need. If all you big money bastar$s don't realize that than I'm sorry for ya!!

I do poker runs to benefit someone in need not line some persons pockets or turn into race.

If you think your boat is oh so "bada$s" then pony up and join sbi or opa! Help support the cause where speed matters. Damn some of you are Fing annoying!!

Chris.......I'm guessing no one knows anything more, or they don't want to share.

Wake up people, we love to race, run fast and all the rest is just blah blah blah.

Hell, even the sailboaters love to race. Sometimes they bump into each other. Sometimes they fall in the water.

If you don't like to race, like a little "danger" then don't go to poker runs, buy a cruiser and sit on the sideline and watch the rest of us haul ass.
You forgot one little important part. Intelligent people know when NOT to race.

You're not going to take your jogging race across an active highway. You're not going to take your stop light race in to the upcomming traffic, and your not going to take your lake race through a pack of family's tubing in a bay.

If they let the news out(if true) the registrations(and hotel bookings etc) will dry up in a minute. Havasu has always been the Wild West. Last year aside(luck) this was always a 6 minute drag race that went national because of the atmosphere.
