However adhering to existing rules (not passing pace boat until released and the speed limit on the one section of lake) will be required and monitored and if in violation driver and boat owner will be disqualified and not allowed to participant in DS in the future. I think they are going to enforce those rules more this year then in past years.

Not true.If you look at the schedule on Lake Racers website, you will see there is no group 1 and all boats will parade thru the channel then be released to any of the 5 card stops that will be open. :food-smiley-007::
There is no pace boats.

Still groups, unless I did not read the right document.

10:00 AM London Bridge Channel parade starts with Group 1
10:45 AM - 2:30 PM Morning card stations open
Havasu Springs Station #1 (Wozencraft Ins.)
Havasu Landing Station #2 (Nordic Boats.)
Thompson Bay Station #3 (HotBoat.com)
Black Meadow Landing Station #4 (Barrett Custom Marine)
Crazy Horse Station #5 (Krusin 4 Kids)

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM - Photo Station (Near Havasu Landing Sponsored by Pirate Cove Resort) – Unlike other events, you helicopter photo is included in your package, BUT, you must visit the photo station and line up for helicopter photos. Boats are released one at a time, and you’ll get 2 to 3 great photos! Suggestion – maximum 60 MPH!

That was the first thing that came to my mind from a few years back. IIRC was treating a PR like a sanctioned race on a closed course

Not what I read for this year, can you post link where you did read this?

I believe Skater40 (Gary) is right. Spoke to him on the phone this morning and said no groups.

All I know is that I'll bet that there is no organized start, I I'm wrong, I'll happily buy the 1st round! :)

I was there last year right in front of the accident last year. There were multiple crowd control boats working hard. Most people were listening to them, however there were multiple people not abiding. It was crazy. The boats were civilian boats with some kind of flag. Herding cats would have been easier. There are just a lot of people who are there for the party and don't respect what they are asking the crowd to do. In my opinion,a driver better not count on an open course.
