Please find me a camper top that doesn't look stupid on a performance boat.... The reason for the camper cover is to extend privacy and sleep area if/when needed. It wouldn't be on the boat unless I have plans of overnighting and wouldn't be in place while the boat is under power, like most camper covers..... It would only be used when needed.

CCs have their place and I can see why they're popular. Everyone has different needs and I get it and I am not bashing at all. My point was there is no way I would be sitting up front in big water!

Interesting thread.

I just bought my Formula the end of last October. All these factors that you guys are talking about were part of my decision. I am afflicted with the "go fast" gene, and so my first looks were at some serious go fast boats. The gf fully supported buying whatever I wanted, and I did look at some of the cc boats. In the end, I gave up some speed for a boat that fits MY usage. I've got a ton of room, goes quick (ok, not compared to the blown cats, but 50+) reliable, and has a comfy place to sleep and take a shower. I've had 4 couples on the boat for a nice easy sunset cruise, and plenty of room when all the women need to use the head. (Sorry, but every trip it's one of the wives/gfs that uses the head) Had 10 (including kids) on a couple times for the xmas parades. Seats 6 for dinner/drinking (at the dock). And I've used it as an "office" to do some work when I wanted to relax and be left alone. These were the important things to me, and the reason I bought the boat I did. Your mileage may vary.

Point is, there are quite a few boats in between the purist go fast boat and a fishing boat. Some of the cc boats are interesting hybrids. Less of an Escalade, more like an X5. Doesn't do anything perfectly, but does a lot of things real well.

I'll be spending a lot of time this season on a 34 Nor-Tech CC with twin 300's at LOTO. Last 8 seasons were spent on a Sunny F-4 and a Formula 350 SS. Will be interesting to see if the CC is a nice middle ground between the two previous rides.

I like this CC
