Interesting thread.
I just bought my Formula the end of last October. All these factors that you guys are talking about were part of my decision. I am afflicted with the "go fast" gene, and so my first looks were at some serious go fast boats. The gf fully supported buying whatever I wanted, and I did look at some of the cc boats. In the end, I gave up some speed for a boat that fits MY usage. I've got a ton of room, goes quick (ok, not compared to the blown cats, but 50+) reliable, and has a comfy place to sleep and take a shower. I've had 4 couples on the boat for a nice easy sunset cruise, and plenty of room when all the women need to use the head. (Sorry, but every trip it's one of the wives/gfs that uses the head) Had 10 (including kids) on a couple times for the xmas parades. Seats 6 for dinner/drinking (at the dock). And I've used it as an "office" to do some work when I wanted to relax and be left alone. These were the important things to me, and the reason I bought the boat I did. Your mileage may vary. Point is, there are quite a few boats in between the purist go fast boat and a fishing boat. Some of the cc boats are interesting hybrids. Less of an Escalade, more like an X5. Doesn't do anything perfectly, but does a lot of things real well. |

I'll be spending a lot of time this season on a 34 Nor-Tech CC with twin 300's at LOTO. Last 8 seasons were spent on a Sunny F-4 and a Formula 350 SS. Will be interesting to see if the CC is a nice middle ground between the two previous rides.
