Don't need to be first. I have friends with boats in that pic I will gladly pay for gas for if that's my desire. I am fine with comfort and middle of the pack. |

Yeah but didn't you admit a few pages back that you just bought this boat and haven't used it much? How about filling the tanks, go for 100 mile run, get back to the dock and refuel then do some math......Your post is very similar to the guys with diesel pickups sitting on 22.5's, with tons of performance mods and they brag they get 22-25 in city driving pulling a 10K trailer! :D..............I suspect they can't do simple math! :D :D

I haven't used it at all. It is 2000 with 2006 motors. The previous owner had it for close to two years, so I am pretty sure he had enuff wheel time to get an approximation on fuel usage. I am going off of the previous owners info and another concept owners who boats on the same water as I do and is on this board. I don't understand why it is so hard to believe a boat with efficient outboards that only weighs 4800lbs can get good fuel economy. I guess it's easy to be skeptical.
The single engine bass boats get 4mpg, can you get 3 mpg in the right conditions maybe and yes that is great for outboards but it is a long way from 4 mpg. Your boat was tested but they only show the speeds but you can look at the fuel burn on the other tests at 3000 and 4000 rpm and get 10-12gph at 3000 and 17-20gph at 4000, that gets you 2.6-2.8 somewhere in that range. If you are really doing much better good for you that is great but unless you have smart craft or something else giving you gph and a gps you really don't know. |
The shallow water thing has me confused. Unless your on a jack plate an outboard lower unit is very similar to an outdrive lower unit. You can trim an outdrive up in shallow water also. Outboards on a jack plate or not and outdrives will generally trim up above the hull bottom anyway so your still limited by the v bottom.
For the room I understand. Cleaning is about the same as both have vinyl and fiberglass to clean. The biggest difference in cleaning would be in the engine room and I get that. |
So let me get this straight ... 0 time on the boat but the guy who was trying to tell sell you a boat told you 4mpg so then it must be true.
Oh man there`s one born every minute:lolhit: btw, "how many did you catch today" |

I love how butthurt everyone is on both "sides" of the debate. It's a boat, get over it. For some, a center console is a lot better fit than a good ol' go-fast. It's as simple as that.

Thank you wise and well informed one. Whatever would be do without your irreplaceable input |

Unless you have a quad motor set up the weight saving alone is enough to help get up buy the island area. I would say my draft at idle is 30" area and that is being nice. With a twin engine trimmed up outboard I am more in the 18" area and that is how a Lot of the island areas are. |
I did in the late 90s. Hated them. So, no. Sorry.

My next boat will be a CC without question. Reasons are pretty straight forward for me; no more crawling around the bilge, no more bravo issues, no more giant fuel bills, ease of maintenance, more room for guests.

Oh just to be clear, as for boating down here I don't have the time anymore, becuase of the low Florida wages all I have time to do is work

Let me put "MY OPINION" in a complete different perspective on anything I like or want, whether it be a car, boat clothes or anything else, not that anyone should care and that's cool, but I don't care what anyone else likes or wants, thanks for all the helpful comments though, carry on with the normal OSO banter.
Dahm, I'll never be able to go on a FPC PR, guess I'll cross that off my bucket list. |

Joey , you forgot to tell us how horribly unhappy we must all be if we don`t share your C.C. enthusiasm
! :fear: Anyway, I got a question, do snailboaters hate fisherman as much as powerboaters? If not then CC owners could tottally hang out at the dock sipping wine and enjoying some cheese and crackers and wind stories. |
A couple pf pics I thought I'd share from the Miami run the other day.

Is 10:30am too early? |
Those are not from the run....CC's can't do poker runs. Stop trying to pull wool over Our eyes

My bad, I'm busted, who would have thought a CC could do a fun or poker run, somebody better tell Randy Scism he's wasting his time and money.
SIDE NOTE- if Randy is reading this, I absolutely DESPISE Center Consoles, and wouldn't run one if it was given to me! Especially if it was the black/orange/white SV 42. Blech! I'll send an E-mail shortly with a shipping address to prove my point! (Anybody know how to disconnect hour meters?) |

Well I am dumb enough to have both 42 Fountain and 39 Nortech CC and the CC wins hands down even with poker runs. BTW the Fountain is for sale.

Great pic that jayboat took the other day, nice shot. |
I actually almost bought a scarab 302 sport with 2x 300XS's. Had finally decided to put offer in over the weekend and on Sunday wife finally started looking at pics and really wanted sunpad. I would have loved it with those engines, but ended up with our 33ol had all the same options we wanted and we love it. Twins, cockpit space for kids to walk around, length to run smoother in gulf, enclosed head..
|
Just some pics of a few more CCs looking good this past week.
|
I would 100% own one, but don't think that one I would like I could afford lol
