Just an FYI, those MTI V42's are north of $500k. The boat show silver boat was over $700k. They damn well better do poker runs and fun runs and every other kind of boating there is for that kind of dough. That being said, I'll take one if it's being sold stupid cheap.
Thanks for the info, but I know what they cost, I guess that's why I like them so much, I guess I should have worked a few more years instead of cashing out early to go screw off. |

Compared to other 42 ft center consoles on the market the MTI leaves a lot to be desired, the Hydra Sports has way more space and a much better layout for the same money and double the content for that price the green one at the show was $689,000 and $60,000 of it was Wet Sounds stereo, A 42 Yellowfin, Invincible, or 41 Bahama are all better boats with a lot more space. The 45 Cigarette has way more space and a much better layout. The MTI layout is so cramped you can hardly walk around the boat and two people cannot pass, there is not even space to put a cooler, design wise they hump carried over from the cat looks out of place, and WTF is with that stupid wing on the t-top? So many better choices on the market can't understand why they have sold any. If you gave me one I would sell it.

I bought my Scarab Sport 9 years ago to satisfy all of my needs. It is a boat I can cruise pretty fast ( it has twin Merc 250's ) , the wife and I can crash for the night if we have to, I can go crabbing, I can fish comfortably on it. And after all these years, the only thing we do is go from point A to point B as fast as we possibly can. When we get there we hang on the boat for a bit and then go into the restaurant. We have never spent the night on it-their is no need to since our house is an 8 minute boat ride from Fire Island and it's much more comfortable than the boat. The best thing I love about the CC is that it is pretty easy to keep looking pretty good, just hose it off and once in a while give it a good cleaning here and there, and I love that I can keep it in the water. With all that said, I kinda wish I bought a 28 Skater ( which I was leaning towards ). I know it would have been more work, but I really like that boat. Anyway, that's my opinion about center consoles.

The 42' Cigarette Huntress is an amazing boat. Spent a lot of time on a few. Running 70+ w 8-10 people sipping martinis is kind of eye opening.
I love all the go fast big boys but the huntress is the cats meow. |

I saw a YellowFin at the Detroit boat show last weekend (I think it was a 36). That thing was a monster! It looked very well laid out and rigged. It was a very impressive looking boat.

While I certainly respect MTI and their boats, their 42 cc is one ugly creation (imo). It may be built well and ride nice, but it sure is not their best looking boat.

The shocker for me at the Miami show was the big white Intrepid quad CC. Salesman said list was 1.2mm (40 something CC with quads, huge tower and some type of center console cabin up front). That boat was sold and they had a contract on another. He said they have a 6 month wait on new ones.....
Some of the huge CC's mentioned here like the Bahama 41 and 39 SeaVee are somewhat bare bones inside, forward seating is an option but several around with nothing up front (which is how fisherman want it). I don't fish but I can do math.....500-700K-1.2mm center consoles could buy me a lifetime of fish dinners at 5 star restaurants! I have a client with a 52 Viking, nice boat and he argues that it is still way more boat than he needs to fish 25 times a year. In the Bahamas he never stays aboard (crew stays on boat, he stays at the resort) and his 52 catches exactly the same amount of fish as a new 82 would (now the biggest Viking is the 92)! |
Can't wait to see the new Nortech 42 CC !!!

Here is the thread on my conversion of my 35' Cigarette Awesome into a 28' center console. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/c...ette-28-a.html. I have always been a fisherman though. I wonder what my teak floors would cost as a factory option! Bob N.

Sunsation brought a couple of their 34 CCs to the Lake Cumberland poker run last summer and I loved the look and layout of them. I'd be proud to own one. Actually thought about it until I called and got an estimate on what it would cost to build a new one. :)

The '42 Cigarette Huntress is no doubt one of my favorites as well, or any of the CC's in the Cigarette lineup for that matter... I also like the look of the Midnight Express http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3bdf92ed.jpg |

Yeah but didn't you admit a few pages back that you just bought this boat and haven't used it much? How about filling the tanks, go for 100 mile run, get back to the dock and refuel then do some math......Your post is very similar to the guys with diesel pickups sitting on 22.5's, with tons of performance mods and they brag they get 22-25 in city driving pulling a 10K trailer! :D..............I suspect they can't do simple math! :D :D

I know this was an old thread but I have been out enjoying my new boat and forgot all about this thread. So I have filled the boat up a few times, kept track of my distance (via GPS), and calculated my fuel burn. I am averaging 3.2 miles a gallon at a cruise speed of about 37-40 MPH depending on water conditions (when there is a chop I can run slower but when the water is flat it likes to porpoise). With a few blasts at full throttle here and there.. This is in fresh water (Detroit River). Unfortunately I don't have the Smartcraft gateway yet for my GPS otherwise I would be able to get a spot on number for GPH at any given RPM. So right now I am seeing 3.2 MPG and still experimenting with cruise RPM, tabs, and trim, to get the optimum fuel economy. just to recap, 30' COncept w/twin Optimax 225s w/22p Bravo Props.

You guys knock it off! All this talk about having fun on center consoles has me searching Craigslist for phrases like "Concept", "Paramount", and "Scarab Sportster"...:party-smiley-004:

We will have to hook up when we get back. Boat is loaded and heading to Boyne Thunder.

I tried pretty hard to get my wife to buy a new CC but she wasn't interested. One of our friends just bought a 34CXX and it's sweet. She didn't like the seating arrangements and since we're down at LOTO we settled on a new SeaRay 350 SLX. Room for 18 on board with the Axius controls. If we ever get a place down south a CC is the boat to have... Jim

Interesting thread. Too many people worried about impressing people they don't care about for sure. I have had my old CC for the last 10 years and is just about to finish restomod number two. Triple 430HP Monty motors on an old 34 Scarab should call for a lot of fun.... It is also fully rigged for fishing, has a cuddy for the kids, and both 12V and 110V systems on board combined with 3 amps and 16 speakers. Whoever said CC's can't be fast and very fun ran out of imagination....
