I think you might get better responses in the Sonic forum. I like the big Sonics but I do recall the 42 and the 45 have the same size cabins....the 3 ft difference is in the transom for the extra motor.

I think the 42 with no power in the classifieds has potential.....light paint work to get rid of the purple, stick some decent power in there and you could be on the water for less than 50K! Granted it won't be fast but it should keep you ahead of the SeaRays!

being as you're from texas and only looking at boats with trips, is it safe to assume you own an oil well?

If I had it to do all over again I would get a 38 Sonic instead of the 45. The 38's can still have all the same amenities of a 45. It is a pig to tow around, I could not imagine trying to tow that 47 around. We have a lot of traffic around here, not to mention people with no patience constantly cutting you off.

I'd look at a 42 with twins before I considered trips, especially if it's the John Elway boat w/575SC's in Texas.
A bud of mine had problems with the stock blowers on his 40Outlaw and it was at pretty low hours. Replacing 2 w/871's wasn't cheap and the 3rd would be a bigger hickey. Now if it was black 502's or 496HO's I'd have more confidence in a non Merc Racing powerplant running triples.
But, if you feel you can afford it, 3 575's would motor that baby very well and way way faster than those low HP engines.

Congrats on looking for an awesome performance cruiser, you'll sure have a lot of elbowroom both topside and below.
Way To Go !!!

See ya,
Kelly
