I gather you got those motors from Phil? See my Seatek build on this page. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...version-3.html |
PS you really want more prop speed than 1-1 overdrive is the way forward on a Cat, I might be able to help you out I have a spare 0.86-1 Twin disc box

I was thinking of fabricate my own ratio but i am not sure if that will work. Overdrive was'nt available for these boxes. We'll be running 20x46 5blade china made nibral propellers this summer just to see how the boat handles and what speed we get. |
110mph with 660hp's in a 46 Skater???? I think you are being extremely optimistic.
|
There is a Skater 46 supreme with 720hp Seateks with a top speed of 110mph and it weights 20000lbs wich is at least 4000lbs more than this one. Using those numbers here : http://www.go-fast.com/boat_speed_predictions.htm shows a top speed above 110mph. This boat ran 165+mph with 2x1000 engines.
|
That boat ran 165+ mph with twin 1000's??? And you're thinking 110+ with twin heavy 660hp diesels? That must gave been the lightest/fastest 46 Skater ever! IMO, your numbers are pretty optimistic, especially after removing all that balsa out of the deck and replacing it with plywood!
Regardless, cool project and I appreciate your effort and enthusiasm, please keep us updated. Good luck with it! :) |
Someone who knows this boat could probably tell more about it.. I think that it had 2x1000 but i know that it ran 165mph when they raced it in europe class one. These engines are 800kg each and the drives are 140kg each. Did you even read what i wrote before??? 110mph with a 20000lbs skater supreme with 2x720hp seateks...
The plywood will add about 80kg of extra weight and wasn't put there just because it was fun but because the balsa was full of water and rott.. |
