Sounds like you need to start your own forum, so you don't need to keep trying to co-opt this one for your lake based "offshore club".

So there are no skills tests to quality for this "elite club", maybe some marine knots, docking maneuvers, chart navigation? So you just need a title (probably owned by the bank) for big hardware parked somewhere?

Michael

Just to clear up the LAKE issue a little. Clear Lake is a small lake off of Galveston bay where many of the marina's are located. It is salt water and a natural harbor.

Their is also a Topps affiliated club based on a lake which further confuses the issue. The Texas Outlaw challenge in June is based out of this same "clear lake"

Fmo is different. Minimal dues and great runs. I don't know any others so I can't vouch. Bob does a fantastic job with fmo.

Also I think fmo was able to give $42,000.00 in scholarships this season.

No I agree there are some good ones. I belong to the American legion and they do lots of good things and its cheap alcohol and dining rooms for large events. With that said I dont get involved beyond paying due the politics and such.

Like I said name a club and you usually find some ahole in charge, misappropriation of money, dirty rumors etc. Again I just tend to not endulge as I dont want to pay to hang out.

Generally because a dumbass derails it with absolutely nothing of value pertaining to the thread and others chime in on that, generally informing said dumbass just how much of a dumbass he is. Lol

His very 1st comment to this thread was "Isn't this Offshore Only..???"

Truthfully EVERY boat could be an "Offshore" boat yes including a 12' Livingston with a game-fisher 9hp.. is it safe? ... not no but hell no.

TOPPS.. "Exclusive" club? Chances are if there was any boaters turned down from their "Club" and some how saw a member broken down they will ignore their need for help.

I honestly hope the comments from other posters did not drive OB away from this site, there is good information here for the beginning boater along with the experienced boater.

Anyone else see this statement as contradictory?

I do honestly think somethin sexy's initial comment, while maybe off topic, wasn't meant to be derogatory. I think he was just being a smartazz. Something I must admit, I do know well. If TOPPS is in fact an elitist offshore snob club, then I know it would be a very small group. It doesn't appear that's the case. There were a couple of D bags around here who thought they were hot sh!t, they hung out together and and had no friends. Whatever floats your boat...

But hey , I tie up with crownlines all summer long!!!

I never posted anything negative about the OP's boat. I raft up with all types. Except sailboats.

The perception of the 2 posts you made "Isn't this Offshore Only" and "Change the name site to "Anyboat Only" is he is not allowed to post threads because he owns a Crownline. Allot of people here started with CL's and I bet they came here for information but I guess if you were "President" of this site (Thank god you're not) you would have banned him because of the make of his boat.
Maybe you should stick with you're TOPPS website and not come over here because I am certain there are more CL owner's here than member's of TOPPS
