I tend to not join clubs for this reason. They mean nothing, all they are is paying to hang out with people and usually one or a few people benefit financially or some other means from the club.

Sounds like you need to start your own forum, so you don't need to keep trying to co-opt this one for your lake based "offshore club".

So there are no skills tests to quality for this "elite club", maybe some marine knots, docking maneuvers, chart navigation? So you just need a title (probably owned by the bank) for big hardware parked somewhere?

Fmo is different. Minimal dues and great runs. I don't know any others so I can't vouch. Bob does a fantastic job with fmo.

Also I think fmo was able to give $42,000.00 in scholarships this season.

This is what it clearly states;

1. Full Membership – shall consist of a member who meets the following
qualifications:
a. Owner of a high performance offshore boat that meets the following specifications:
(1) No less than 21 feet LOA.
(2) Top Speed in excess of 50 mph.
(3) Have a proof of insurance.
(4) Have a Boating Safety Certificate.

All applications are subject to the approval of the Board, and then voted on by the members. We have, in the past few years, had several people become members with a center console that met the length and speed qualifications, as this seems to be a trending option to a true offshore performance boat.

I am not wealthy, nor a snob. I am proud to be a member of an exclusive club, that promotes high performance offshore boating. Over the years, TOPPS has been involved in assisting offshore races by donating our time and boats for patrol, pace and medical boats. In conjunction with Texas Outlaw Challenge and Conroe TOPPS, it is our goal to build awareness of our sport, and try to get an offshore race back in our area. I am proud of what myself and my Board have accomplished over the last few years. Membership and participation are up.

The OP did not respond to my statement, and it was not meant to offend him. Due to his lack of response, I would assume that he is probably a great guy. But several others on here decided to jump on their keyboards and attack me. This is an Offshore site, just like TOPPS is an offshore club. That was my simple point.

Generally because a dumbass derails it with absolutely nothing of value pertaining to the thread and others chime in on that, generally informing said dumbass just how much of a dumbass he is. Lol
