Watch the wear pads too. I had a screw back out a little and gouge the ring. the rest were a bit loose too.
On my old IMCO SC's one of the round shower caps disappeared so I safety wired the center bolt to a top cap bolt. I did the same on the SCX's.
The fill and drain plugs didn't have magnets on them so I installed them. There [is] a magnet in the sump area, it's just not easily serviceable.
The reservoirs didn't have a provision for the low level alarm so I drilled and tapped for them. Then, with heavy wave action the alarms would go off so I installed a disc/baffle inside, problem solved. I also installed a riser into the hose fitting inside the reservoir to allow for "sludge" accumulation in the reservoir although none has so far.

I started by "blueprinting/truing" the lowers, they needed it BAD!!!, so I don't know what it would've done before but I'm sure it helped.
I lobbed 2" off the skeg=no change
I thinned the skeg about in half(still thicker than a standard SC lower)=no change

Why did you go with a 1.25" propshaft?

Whew! I thought those were rabbit ear prop hubs.
This is the year I find out about the SCX's. SC's only made it two years, this is the third year.
Fingers crossed.

Hey Pete,

Installed SCX Uppers on my boat last year.Had to custom fab some stainless plates for the steering rams to work, other than that they have been rock solid so far. Oil changes at 25 hours look like new instead of black and burnt in the old XR drives. Best of luck!
