Default 24x7 hatch mounting

What are you using for hinges and how do you have them mounted?? With the back of the boat and the engine hatch rounded, the little hinges that were on it just aren't cutting it. Looking for ideas....

Cant help, mine was side opening, but mine had a set of the 2 piece ones you can get about anywhere

I've looked at a XLT-185 and a Python recently, both used S/S piano hinges. My old XLT was split side openers, also used the piano hinge.

Looking at your avatar, I see what you mean.... I know the Python's piano hinge was in the middle and only about 50-75% of the total beam on the transom. And now I know why. Looking at the rear of the boat, the sunpad was taller on the ends because of that radius.

Which ever way you go make sure that the Pin Axis of the hinges is the same. Whether you use 2-3 or 4 hinges the hinge pin line needs to be straight, like you could stick one long pin through all the hinges. ( I already know you're a smart guy and know this, this was more for others) anything other than the same axis and you'll start breaking screws/Hinges/gel coat/glass. if you cant get it straight then you need a sloppy fitting hinge. (Had a Donzi with a Rounded deck, been there done that )

Today I mocked up the hatch on my 24-7 pantera.
The factory hinges were mounted along the curve of the hatch and were fighting each other when actuated.

In order to get the fulcrums on the same plane or axis I stacked four fender washers on the outside of each hinge. This is just for measurement and mock up.

The plan is to "let" the base of the hinges into the hatch. (Mostly the inside to maintain the correct axis)
